She raised her eyes and looked ahead, only to see many people dressed in black uniforms carrying boxes and walking in, while Patrick stood in front of the main house and was commanding them.

Seeing Alice, Patrick smiled and walked towards them, gently supporting Beverly, "Aunt, I have learnt a few dishes from the chef, let's go eat inside and see if it is suitable for your appetite."

"You're being considerate." Beverly looked at Patrick, and said comfortingly, "It's fortunate that you're here, otherwise, I don't know what kind of mess we would be in."

"Auntie, don’t mention it."

Patrick said, his eyes looking straight at Alice, the love in his eyes deep.

Alice did not reply them, she only looked at the people who were carrying the boxes and asked, "What are they doing?"

"Oh, it's like this. I have decided to move here to stay with you for a period of time. These are all my luggage, as well as some of Brown Family's important matters." Patrick said, his gaze fixated on her body.

Move in.

Alice's face did not have much expression on it. Her eyelashes trembled as she said, "There's no need to go through so much trouble. Brown Family is so busy right now, why are you so distracted in taking care of us? I've decided to return to the country with mother."

There were some things that she still couldn't fully open with Patrick right now, and couldn't start a face-to-face conflict with him.

William's whereabouts were still unknown, and it was unclear whether or not it was related to Patrick.

Besides, she had to get her mother to a safe place first.

Right now, she was not sure how many ideas Patrick had in mind.

"Return?"

Patrick was stunned.

"Why?" Beverly looked at Alice in puzzlement, "I don't want to go to San Francisco, this is my home."

Home.

Her mother still thought that here was home, but there were already many people around him that belonged to Patrick, just that she did not realize it yet.

Patrick and Beverly both looked at Alice, who said lightly, "Mother, William is missing, her whereabouts are unknown, and I still have to look for her, but I won't be able to rest easy if you're here by yourself. You can go back with me."

Hearing that, Patrick's gaze dimmed, he turned his face away but did not say anything.

Yeah, I almost forgot, something big also happened to William, but what's the use of you going back, there are a lot of people looking for her. Beverly did not want Alice to return, "If she is lacking people, Patrick, you should send some."

Patrick walked beside them and nodded, "Alright, Aunt, I will arrange it."

"No need." Alice immediately said, "Mother, please return with me. If you stay here, I am afraid that you will be even more hurt if you see something."

"This ..."

Beverly looked at Alice, only to see her empty and lifeless eyes filled with determination. It was rare that her eyes had something different, so Beverly could not resist, "How about this, I will pack up your father's possessions, and it will probably take me two or three days to tidy it up, then we will go to

San Francisco."

Seeing that her mother agreed, Alice immediately nodded, "Alright."

As long as her mother was willing to leave here with her, anything would be fine.

Patrick looked deeply into Alice's eyes, but did not say anything, his smile was somewhat forced and bitter.

At night, Alice sat alone on the stairs in front of the main house. The ground was ice-cold, she raised her head and looked up at the sky.

She watched in silence.

William, where are you now?

She knew now how tired he was, how tired she had never felt when he held everything for her, and how tired she was now that he was gone.

Really tired.

His father, who had turned into ashes and flowed into the sea.

She looked at her mother, who was crying because of her love words.

Patrick who had already changed beyond recognition.

Mary was full of hesitation but was always staring at her.

Every single one of them made her feel tired and in pain. Having lost her advantage, she couldn't withstand a single blow. She didn't know how she was able to continue holding on, nor did she know when she was going to collapse from exhaustion.

It should be when he returns.

When he returned, she would have someone to lean on, and then she would be able to relax and fall into his arms.

" Alice."

A voice resounded in the quiet night.

That voice was very gentle, like a spring breeze. However, Alice's body couldn't help but shiver, and all the blood in her body started to flow nervously.

"What's wrong? Is it cold?"

Patrick stood behind her and watched her trembling, then reached out to take off his jacket and put it on her shoulders.

There was still warmth on the coat, and his breath surrounded her.

Alice resisted the urge to throw off his jacket and turned to look at Patrick, acting as if nothing had happened, "It's fine, you suddenly made a sound, I was startled, I'll return the coat to you."

She started to take off his coat.

"You can wear it."

Patrick pressed her hand down and sat down beside her, his slender legs casually placed at the foot of the stairs.

Alice's body stiffened.

"Your hands are too cold." he said.

Alice immediately retracted her hand, and moved so fast that it made him smile bitterly, "I know that you only have William in your heart, how is it, how is it when you find him?"

He took the initiative to mention William.

Alice sat on the stairs, staring blankly ahead. She wore his jacket, and after a long while, she said lightly, "I used all I could, but it was still like looking for a needle in a haystack. Patrick, tell me, where is he? "

Is he still like himself?

Alice stared at him, but nothing could be seen on his face. It was unknown if it was because he had disguised himself too well, or if he was truly innocent.

She lowered down his head and looked down at her feet and didn't look at him anymore.

A gust of wind blew by, causing her to flinch.

Cold.

It was really cold.

She also thought about William's last words to her before he disappeared. He said that he was cold, and she wanted to give him a hug but she couldn't.

A pair of big warm hands struck towards her, and in the next second, Alice was embraced tightly by Patrick. He pulled her clothes tightly around her body and hugged her tightly, "Is it cold now?"

"Patrick, don't be like this." Alice pushed his hands away and stood up from the stairs, "You have Mary, I have William."

Patrick still sat there, the space in his arms empty and cold.

He stood up and gently said, "Alice, I know that you have been in a bad mood lately, so stop thinking too much. Go back to sleep, you still need to take care of aunt."

"Yes."

Alice nodded, she turned and walked into the house, passing by the kitchen, her eyes turned, calling out to Patrick who was about to leave, "Patrick, the bone soup you made yesterday, tastes very good."

Patrick was about to go upstairs, but hearing that, he turned his head to look at her. His face had a look of pleasant surprise: "You like it?"

The light fell on his face, making it look warm and beautiful.

"Yes."

Alice replied as her hand pressed onto her stomach.

"Are you hungry?" Patrick looked at her movements and said, "Then I'll cook for you now."

"Will it be too troublesome?" It's too late."

Alice said in embarrassment.

"It doesn't matter how late you like it. Sit down for a moment, I'll go make the soup." The smile on Patrick's face deepened, even his voice started to fly, as he walked towards the kitchen.

Alice stood at the door and looked in. Seeing Patrick roll up his sleeves to take out the pig bones and other ingredients, he started to busy himself.

There was a smile on his lips.

"Thank you for your hard work, Patrick. You're busy. I'll go up and see if mother is sleeping well." Alice said.

"Go ahead, come down later to drink some soup." Patrick looked at her and said.

"Alright."

Alice took off his jacket, placed it on a chair, and then headed upstairs.

When she reached the top floor, her eyes were not looking towards Beverly's bedroom, but Patrick's room.
