"That’s my problem, you don't have to worry about it." William said solemnly, he carried Kathy and walked forward, pointing at the lanterns in the front, "Do you still want more lanterns?"
"Yes, yes, yes!" Kathy clapped.
"Then I'll buy all the lanterns in this street for you!"
"Dad, you're so awesome!"
Kathy clapped excitedly.
Alice stood there holding the lanterns while looking at William's back, she was deep in thought.
Actually, it didn't matter where they were going. What was important was that she hoped that in his heart, she wouldn't be his burden.
Did he know that?
When one day she was no longer his burden, she was assured and convinced that he was strong enough to deal with Lancaster.
The lanterns that were hanging high dazzled Alice's eyes. The figure in front was moving further and further away.
It was a completely new day. Alice woke up in a daze in the car as she looked outside and saw unfamiliar roads.
Where was she?
Alice sat on the comfortable sofa and stretched her back. After looking around, she realized that she was inside a high-class car. The car was very long and it had a lot of space. Some drinks and wine were placed on the shelf beside her.
"Master, you're awake."
Mr Palace was on the opposite side of the corridor, and his silver body gave her a sense of relief.
Alice nodded and looked around curiously. "Where's William?"
Other than the driver, there were only Mr Palace and her in the car. Where was he?
"Mr. William is taking care of official affairs on the other car. He was afraid that he would disturb you."
Mr Palace replied.
"Oh." Alice nodded. She turned and looked out the window, only to see Cullen Family's car at the front and back. She still remembered, back then, during their honeymoon, William had said that he only wanted a world of him and her, he did not want any bodyguards.
He was such a paranoid person, but now, he changed himself so easily.
Alice sighed and asked, "Where are we going now?"
"Master, this is already your hometown, but we haven't reached your original home yet."
Mr Palace said.
Alice was startled. So she had already come to her hometown, and she still remembered the last time she came, she came with Patrick to visit the flower field.
Patrick.
It had been a long time since she last thought of this name. After Mary died, he had gone to a foreign land, and she had no idea how he was doing right now.
Actually, the reason she said she wanted to go back to her hometown was to let William see the place where she grew up.
At that time, she watched everyone's story progress like an outsider, until she met
William. She started to have her own story.
As the car slowly moved forward, the scenery outside was moving backwards. The shadows of the trees on the window swept across her pale face, making the emotion in her eyes flicker and darken.
Considering that she was pregnant, the car stopped and moved constantly, leaving her plenty of time to rest.
The scenery outside was becoming more and more familiar to her.
The road signs were becoming more and more familiar.
She knew that she was getting closer and closer to her hometown.
At noon, the car stopped in front of the small district. Alice was supported out of the car by Mr Palace.
This place was old and worn out.
The walls were not as high as they were in the past. The residential area seemed to be bigger now. The apartment buildings and villas inside looked new. It seemed that there were many more residents.
She's back.
Things and people were not what they used to be.
Alice suddenly wanted to leave. She turned around, only to see William leaning against a car, wearing a grey windbreaker. His legs were straight and slender. With his arms crossed, he expressionlessly looked in her direction.
It was William who got her, who were asleep into the car and took her away. But now, he didn't seem to be very happy, as he hid in another car to take care of his business.
It was really strange.
Alice walked over to him and smiled, "Have you finished the official matters?"
William lowered his eyes and looked at her, and noncommittally made a sound of agreement.
"What?"
Alice wanted to know.
"What what?"
William coldly snorted.
Alice smiled, and pulled his hand, "You seem to be weird all the way, what's wrong?"
"Nothing." William frowned, but quickly relaxed, "We came all the way here, where are we going now? I've already had someone cleaned up that shabby house of Clyne Family. Do you want to go and take a look?"
Adoptive parents.
Alice's eyes darkened when he mentioned these two people. If there was a hint of kinship between her and her adoptive parents, from the moment she found out that she was bought by her adoptive parents and was not told the truth when she left the house, not only did she lose heart, she also despaired.
In all these years, she had always avoided her adoptive parents and had never gone to look for them.
She always thought that if her adoptive parents had told her earlier so that she could find her biological parents earlier, she would have been able to stay with them longer.
But not end like this.
"Alice? Alice? "
Alexander stood in front of her and waved his hand, looking at her with surprise.
William also stared at her, and Alice made a fake smile, "Mr. Alexander, I came to visit on the way, I won't talk to you, I'll go visit my home."
"Ah, okay, go ahead."
Alexander nodded and said.
Alice carried William and walked inside. William stared at her, Alice looked at the scenery of the small district. Every scene looked familiar yet unfamiliar, the trees here were all taller than she remembered, the flower fields here were not as well-built as they were in the past, the stone road was not as smooth before.
Further in, there were a few villas behind the apartments, which was what Alice had the most impression of.
It was the first place in her life she called "home".
Compared to the other renovated villas, this one looked old, the walls were yellow, and the garden was overgrown with weeds.
Alice slowly pulled her hand out from the crook of William's arm and walked forward step by step.
The door was rusted, and a large lock hang on it without locking the door.
Her deepest impression of the door was that every time she went home from school, she would see Patrick standing at the door from afar. When she got closer, Patrick would walk in, as if he was not deliberately waiting for her.
"Bam."
Alice raised her hands and slowly pushed open the door to her memories. Time reversed quickly, and all sorts of scenes appeared in her mind.
At that time, foster mother liked to hang clothes there, and the clothesline was still hanging there.
Mary liked to bring her classmates over to the house to play, which made the whole house lively. Patrick felt that it was too noisy, then she would bring Patrick out for a walk.
But now, where were her adoptive parents?
Where was Mary?
Where was Patrick?
After so many years had passed, she had finally returned here. However, where were the people who had lived here before?
