"Why are you so happy today?"

William looked deep into Alice's eyes as he walked over.

"The comics are so funny." Alice laughed and said, "I haven't read such an interesting comic book in so long."

William sat down on the bed. He felt an ache in his waist. He leaned back and stared at Alice. "You like comics?"

"I used to like it very much."

Alice smiled as she leaned toward William and pointed to the comic book. "The leading guy is cocky. He's so funny. The conversations are very interesting too."

William did find many interesting comics for her.

"Really?"

William looked at Alice's face. He could smell a faint fragrance coming from her body. He adjusted her long hair and asked, "You haven't read comics for a long time?"

Alice flipped through the book. She did not even raise her head while replying, "Yeah. I was not in the mood to read it when you were

not with me. Then you came back, and I did not have time to read it. We stay together all day."

"You don't like it?"

William frowned in displeasure.

"No." Alice looked up at him. "It's my honor to have a clingy boyfriend."

"Sure you do."

William pushed back the hair on her shoulders. Then he slipped into the blanket and leaned against her shoulder comfortably.

But Alice was surprised. She looked at William. "What's wrong?"

It was not comfortable sleeping like this.

"Let me take a break."

William said in a deep and charming voice, with his head on her shoulder.

The glass cranes at the foot of the bed sparkled in the sunlight. They would make soft sounds as they hit each other in the wind.

"Alright." Alice stood up and sat on the bed. Then she put William's head on her shoulder again. "Does it make you more comfortable?" "Yeah."

William nodded.

Alice smiled and let him lean on her. She continued to read the comic book. And she would explain them to William when she read interesting plots. But he seldom laughed.

He just couldn't get it.

So, Alice stopped talking to him. She was focused on the book for a long time. Suddenly, William asked in a hoarse voice, "Alice, how did you get through the four years?"

Alice stopped reading the book.

William was talking about the four years when he had disappeared.

"What about you?" Alice asked.

"I'm asking you first."

"Well, better than you." Alice said, "I've got Daniel. And I can see the twins one in a while. But you were alone."

"We're the same."

William said in a low voice.

"What?"

Alice was puzzled, so she asked.

"No matter how many people you've had in the past four years, you're just like me. Because I was not there with you." William said, his head resting on her shoulder.

William was right.

When William was not with Alice, other people didn't matter to her.

"Yeah. But we won't be apart anymore, right?" Alice smiled as she stroked his face.

But William did not reply. He leaned on her shoulder silently.

Why did William not answer her?

Did he think she was too sensitive again?

Alice stroked his face. Her fingers moved from his cheeks to his eyes, which were closed.

Alice was surprised. William fell asleep while talking to her.

Was he that tired?

Did he really steal something last night?

Alice chuckled. She did not say anything again. She sat quietly and let him lean on her. She slowly flipped through the book.

Suddenly, William's phone started to vibrate.

Alice picked it up and found the call was from England. So, she placed it in silent mode and didn't answer it. She would tell William after he woke up.

The person didn't hang up in the end.

Just as Alice was thinking about sending a text back to explain, a voice message came in. It was sent by William's brother, David.

Alice clicked on it and put the phone beside her ear. She heard David's London accent, which was quite deep and charming, "William, Lancaster's coming alive. I smell something fishy. Are you prepared? Do you need some help?"

Alice looked at William, who was sleeping on her shoulder. Everyone sensed that something was wrong, but William just stayed here and kept on playing around with her.

Very quickly, David sent another voice message.

Alice clicked on it and listened.

"You need to stop playing around with Alice. You should protect her and your children. I'll find a safe place for them."

David had got plans.

"How is it?" William raised his eyebrows and asked.

"You want me to get down on the chair? No, thanks. I'll try it after I give birth." Alice wasn't worried about the safety of this chair. She just felt it was too absurd for a pregnant woman to climb down from it.

Alice had been a rebel. But William, who was usually nervous about everything, was willing to let her try this.

"After that? You don't know if we'll come back."

William stood at the window and asked.

He got Alice. She didn't know that, either.

William seemed to be afraid that Alice would overthink it. He pulled the thick vine and added, "It's enough for me to come here once. I don't want you to keep thinking of things in the past. Let's just live in the present and make new memories!"

Make new memories?

This was not something that William would do. Ever since Alice was pregnant, he had never let her take any risks.

Alice looked deep into his eyes. Then she lowered her head and looked down. She saw that the area behind the house had been paved with green leaves. There were dense trees at the roadside.

"Where does that take us?"

Alice got curious and asked.

"My Alice, you will know it when you get down."

William pulled up the chair with the vine.

Alice looked at William in a daze. He had prepared so many surprises in the past two days. She had a great time every day.

Alice slowly got down on the white chair. Then she found that there were tracks on the wall. This helped the chair stay still all the time.

William spent so much effort to make her think of her childhood. No, he was erasing the bad memory from her mind.

But honestly speaking, she didn't feel like she became a happy kid again while sitting on the chair. She was just shocked by this massive spending.

Alice sat on the chair and landed steadily. When she stepped on a pile of leaves, the dead leaves cracked. And Alice looked forward.

She didn't see it upstairs. But she could see there was a pumpkin carriage in the distance, the kind that would appear in Disney movies. It was parked between two large trees. It was so delicate and beautiful. Alice almost thought that she was in a fairy tale.

Alice unfastened the seat belt and walked down the cradle. William also landed safely. Alice pointed to the pumpkin carriage and asked, "Is this for Alice or Cinderella?"

William smoothed down his clothes. Then he turned to look at her with a serious expression. "Aren't they the same person?"

William didn't even know who Alice and Cinderella were, yet he created a fairy tale for her.

Did he have a normal childhood?

"Let's go."

William hugged Alice's waist as he walked ahead. When they got closer, Alice finally saw the high class, fine and dreamy pumpkin carriage clearly. Every detail was perfect and it even had two handsome white horses.

Wait, the white horses were fake.

Alice blinked her eyes as she poked the horses. William glanced at her. "If I get real horses here, we'll need a groom. I've told my bodyguards to stay outside to protect us. I don't want a groom to disturb us. So, I changed it into an electric car."
