"I should probably go to my office and get some work done," John said patting my leg, "I'll see you at dinner?"
"Yup," I said and planted another kiss on him. I watched his body get smaller and smaller as he weaved through the garden path. The garden had recently become the new hot spot at the pack house. I looked around seeing couples cuddled up on the other benches and children playing tag. John was right I think the pack would benefit from a playground set. From working in the nursery I have noticed that there has been increases in pregnancies this past year so there will be even more kids in the future to play on it.
I walked along the path through the garden until I was on the edge of the woods. I looked inside as if I were looking into it through a sheet of glass. "It is going to go away," I heard my dad say behind me.
I half smiled and walked up to him giving him a hug, "I don't want it to," I paused, "I just want it to be the same again."
He seemed to get wiser as he aged. His dark hair was now touched with gray and his wrinkles had gotten deeper, "Things cannot remain the same in order to move forward."
"How are you doing dad?" I asked as he sat us on the grass.
"I am doing okay. I have no complaints at the moment. The doctor said my tests were all good and I have a potential job offer," he said with a smile.
I threw my arms around his neck I was so happy, "Really? That is great! What job is it?"
He laughed and loosened hold on his neck, "It is for a small company in town. I would just do some booking for them and the hours are flexible. Moving to the pack house was not only the push you needed but was the push I needed," he said truthfully, "Life is for the living Morgan. I want to live it." He said squeezing my hand.
My eyes blurred from the tears that had formed.
"Oh! Don't cry sweetheart. I didn't mean to upset you," He said.
"I am not upset dad. I am just so happy," I said laughing, "I didn't think things would get this good or be this perfect. I know life isn't supposed to be perfect but right now it is; mine is. The two most important men in my life are healthy incredible men who love me unconditionally."
My dad wiped a tear that escaped and smiled, "You were the best gift I have ever received, Morgan, and I hope that you have more opportunities to cry over your perfect days. I know that I would have cherished more of the perfect moments I had with your mom if I knew I was going to lose her."
I sat on the grass with my dad until some of the younger boys came over and started talking about sports. Once I lost track of what they were going on about I took it as a chance to leave. I was happy for my dad and he was right. I kept saying that I want to move on but deep down I was afraid to. I sped up my pace until I was practically sprinting to John's office.
I took the steps two at a time and opened the door without knocking. John was seated in his big brown leather chair behind his dark mahogany desk.
"Hey! I thought I was seeing you at dinner," he said standing up and making his way towards me.
