"I believe," he starts, "that me and you aren't just a boy and a girl who met randomly and had a connection. I believe that we we're meant to meet, that me and you are supposed to be together."

"So you believe in destiny or something?" I ask.

"Or something" he assures with a supportive smile. I am relieved to hear Jake say this; to admit that he feels something more too. I still can tell he is holding something back though. I wonder what he is thinking and what I could say to figure it out.

"Do you really just believe that or do you know it." I ponder aloud. Jake slams on the brakes again- this time more roughly.

"Do you know something?" He inquires carefully. I don't know what he is alluding too, but decide to play along so that I would know.

"Yes, I do, but not a lot." I lie, being careful with what I say like Jake. He seems to notice I'm bluffing and smirks.

"So who told you about it?" My face drains and I know he notices with his growing smirk. I don't even put much thought into my answer before I blurt out:

"Tyler!"

That seems to get his attention. Now I know I've hit gold.

"He couldn't have," he says more to himself than to me. "what did he tell you?" He demands to know.

"Just that what me and you had was more than what I thought it was." I start to pray this tactic works and I get something from it.

"Yeah, well it is. You're my mate." I gasp and Jake snaps his head in my direction. "Jen, is something wrong? What is it?"

"Mate!" I question with a smirk on my face. I have no idea what that means- but now that I've won my game I can reveal my lie. "What does that even mean?"

His face pale and he starts looking quite frustrated. "Jen, how much did Tyler really tell you?"

My silence gave him the answer and I can see him start to shake his head and get upset. He starts huffing like a bull and his dark eyes somehow get even more darker. His reaction confuses me and I shrink back into my seat.
