Lenora held back her tears and silently returned to the stairway entrance,

She gently wiped the corner of her eyes, took a deep breath, making sure she looked no different from before and then descended the staircase. 

“Ms. Wilkin, what did Chief Lawson say?” the officer who received her asked. 

With a smile. Lenora apologized, “Sorry, I just took a call, and something urgent came up. I have to leave now. As for meeting Susanna, it’ll have to wait another day.”

Lenora settled into the car, leaning weakly against the back of the seat. Johanne’s the main culprit of my father’s death, and Zachary is trying to shift the blame to someone else.
