“Are you certain Melissa Helberg… didn’t coerce you?” Demi Aniston asked once more.
I found it strange. Why did this woman harbor such a prejudice against me?
I even began to wonder if, when I approached her, she might throw a punch, though I’d most certainly return the favor with a slap of my own.
Once this was over, I’d make time to investigate her thoroughly. I hoped she didn’t try to stir up anything else, or I’d have no choice but to use my power to remove her.
I walked over to Sebastian, who gently took my hand, seemingly trying to comfort me.
He caressed the back of my hand and then smiled at me.
“Calm down, Luna. These people will always target us,” he said, his tone pleading. Of course, I was willing to give him this moment.
“I wasn’t coerced or mistreated by Luna. In fact, Luna cares for me more than any of you!” the maid shouted toward Demi Aniston.
Demi’s expression soured, and I could almost see the frustration in her, wishing she could silence the maid right now.
“Alright, I believe there’s no need for us to argue over such matters.” Ethan Vrzogic stepped forward. Now a favored figure in both the Council and before the Alpha, his presence commanded enough respect for the others to give him some leeway.
“I hereby declare that the treason charges against Winnie Harold and Elder Edgar are valid. Furthermore, due to the current situation, I announce that the Harold Family’s affairs will be suspended for three months.”
It was clear that this action was sanctioned by Sebastian. I suspected he wanted to use this incident as a means to suppress the influential families in the Council, and I made a mental note of it.
I noticed that Geraint remained expressionless, merely clapping along with everyone else. It seemed as though none of this had anything to do with him… he was so perfectly. detached from each moment, as if he were deliberately staying out of it all.
Watching him so detached, I couldn’t shake the unease. Had I really been overthinking it? After all, he was the Alpha’s brother….
“Elder Edgar, you lied to the royal family. The crime you’ve committed is enough to dissolve the entire Council! This is treason, and we have no choice but to sentence you to public beheading.” Ethan Vrzogic announced, his tone tinged with anger.
I nervously clenched Sebastian’s hand. To be honest, I hadn’t anticipated that the laws and actions of the North would be so brutal.

“Don’t worry, it’s an exaggeration. We won’t actually beheading anyone, Sebastian reassured me seriously.
“Luckily, we found the key to the problem. This man could have kept lying and avoided punishment. And fortunately, Winnie Harold’s stance wasn’t so firm, so her family will only face a few months of suspension. I’d rather have honest people by my side than schemers.”
Though Sebastian’s words were meant to ease me, I didn’t completely relax.
I couldn’t help but wonder if this was just the straightforward nature of the North–if they said they didn’t doubt Geraint, then they truly didn’t.
“Law! You should be following the law!” Demi Aniston reminded once again.
Sebastian was already done with this woman.
“I hope you all realize that I have been merciful towards
you.
But Demi Aniston looked at me as Sebastian said those words. Did she think it was me who started all of this?
If she continued to view me with hostility, then I would have to figure out a way to weaken her power, or else she would become a problem for me.
In fact, so far, I felt that only Ethan–Vrzogic wasn’t so unpleasant to me.
Once things settled, we returned to our seats.
The Council had arranged for maids to serve us sweet tea. Looking at that sickly sweet drink made me feel nauseous, but Phoebe, with a good appetite, happily finished the cup for me.
“My dear Luna, now you can relax and focus on your pregnancy.”
We decided to rest for the night at the hotel arranged by the Council before heading back. Phoebe embraced me with excitement, glad that no one could threaten me anymore.
“Don’t let your guard down yet, though. These things probably aren’t as simple as they
seem.”
Perhaps my thoughts were too dark, but I couldn’t let my guard slip.
“I’m going to take a walk around here. I’ll borrow your coat for now.”
Due to my pregnancy, I didn’t have as much strength and energy as before. Normally, I would have gone with her, but Kala had already been taken back to the room by Martell, and I was quietly waiting for Sebastian.
Phoebe left the room alone. I didn’t sense anything unusual, but when I glanced at her retreating figure, my heart skipped a beat.

By dinner time, we gathered in the restaurant, but Phoebe still hadn’t shown up.
“She couldn’t have gotten lost again, right? It does look pretty big here,” Kala said, sounding concerned.
