Kourtney genuinely seemed to take pleasure in feeding me. She was always coming up with new dishes for me to try. At this rate, I was sure I'd gain at least five pounds by the time I recovered. That definitely wasn't ideal.

"This is really good," I said, complimenting her cooking.

She smiled and nodded, but after a quick glance at the clock, she suddenly sprang to her feet. "I've got to get to work! Dr. Ranford, you should stay home and rest!" she called out before turning and rushing off.

I couldn't help but shake my head. She really didn't need to push herself so hard.

To avoid gaining five pounds, I decided to get some exercise after my meal. But just as I stepped outside, I bumped into Casey. She was alone and looked like she had been waiting for a while. The moment she saw me, she hurried over.

"What are you doing here?" I asked coldly.

Casey's eyes turned red as she looked at my face. "How could they do this to you? They hurt you this badly... Jace, come work at my company. I swear, no one will ever lay a finger on you again!"

Back then, I was always chasing after her, but she took my efforts for granted while secretly meeting up with her so-called true love. Now that I had stopped pursuing her, she felt like something was missing.

Not only was she trying to keep track of where I was, but she was also trying to convince me to reconcile with her.

I let out a cold laugh. "You really think this has nothing to do with you?"

We both knew how much trouble Casey had caused in the past. So, who was she trying to fool with this act?

She stepped back, her eyes wide in disbelief. "How could you think that of me? I love you. I'd never do anything to hurt you."

Tears filled her eyes as she began to sob. "I know you don't believe me, and nothing I say will change that. But I never wanted to hurt you. I just wanted us to reconcile!"

I remained unmoved by her explanation. "I'm not going to your company, and I'm not getting back together with you either. Just give up."
