I wondered if a general manager was always this free. While I was still in deep thought, Lindsey knocked on the door.
"Come in."
With a smile, Lindsey entered the room with Mira, who was holding a stack of documents, behind her. Mira was huffing as she looked at me with a pleading expression.
Before I could say anything, Lindsey instructed Mira to place the documents on my desk. "These are all the documents that need your approval. Technically, these documents can be settled by the secretaries on your behalf, but since it's your first time managing things, we'll start from the basics. Please open the first document."
I graduated many years ago, so this was the first time since then that I felt like I was in class. Lindsey was always smiling, but when she needed to be strict, she would show no mercy. She had both me and Mira in check.
At noon, when it was time for lunch, I had only managed to get through just over ten files. The rest still sat there in a large pile.
"You can consider it my first day of work today. Is it really a good idea to make so many decisions right away?"
Going through all kinds of matters and projects was giving me a headache. It reminded me of the fear I felt when I needed to memorize medical books back then.
"These are minor matters. They're meant for you to practice. You'll improve the more you practice."
Facing Lindsey's smile, I shuddered. "Alright."
It was tougher for Mira. I only needed to participate in making decisions, but she needed to jot down notes and highlight important points the entire morning without pause.
By the time it was lunch break, Mira's hand was already very sore. She and I exchanged glances with bitter expressions. As expected, Jason had been too lenient with us.
Since it was already lunchtime, Mira cleaned up the office and asked what I was planning to have for lunch.
