Cole couldn't tolerate this any longer and said, "Chloe, that's enough. Ava didn't mean that."

Chloe persisted with a touch of irrationality: "She didn't mean that? Then what did she mean, Cole? Could it be that you like her, and that's why you're siding with her?"
