I grabbed my clothes and stood in the bathroom doorway. "By the way, I have not told her me living here, it may sound normal to live with a guy you've not been with for more than a month in werewolf world but not in the human world. Plus she's already suspicious of you."
"Why is she suspicious of me?" He rinsed his mouth out using a paper cup that was on the counter.
"She thinks that we're dating so that you can buy the restaurant. She also thinks we're moving too fast since I already met your parents."
"Fine, I won't mention you living here." He agreed.
"Good." I bent over to kiss his lips.
He smiled nervously. "There's an elephant in the room that I think we should address." He said making me groan. We hadn't talked about Heather at all and I was hoping to keep it that way.
"Can we not?" I rolled my eyes and went turned the shower on.
"Alex, come on." He followed after me.
I sighed. "As you know Heather is my mother. Her and my dad married right after college, and a few years later they had me. I was just eight when she met another man and fell in love with him. She divorced him, and started a whole other family." I felt tears begin to form but I refused to let them out.
"Baby." He wrapped his arms around me and begin rubbing circles on my back. "I sorry you had to go through this but James is her mate."
I tried pushing him back. "And does that give her a reason to abandon her child?"
"NO! Of course not. But I sure there's more to the story."
"You got to be kidding me." By now I had successfully pushed him completely away from me.
"Alex I'm sorry, I am not trying to be insensitive, it just this is all hard to believe. I've known Heather for years and she is such a kind-hearted woman, she takes care of the foster children in the pack, she helped my mom lead the women and children during the war."
"If she's so great then why don't she be your mate?" I snapped making him growl at me. "If none of this is Heather's fault then is it my dad's?"
"I'm not saying that." He shook his head.
"Then what are you saying?" I demanded to know.
Things had been a little tense since our mini argument this morning but I knew it was just because of how I threaten to leave him. From my understanding mates were final, there was no breaking up and I knew by doing that I must have hurt him.
"I'm sorry." We were a couple miles from home when I could no longer take the awkward silence between us.
He looked at me before turning his eyes back on the road. "About what?"
"I shouldn't have threatened to leave you."
He pulled into the driveway and turned the car off. "I've waited my whole life to find you. In the months leading up to meeting you, I would drink my sorrows away and I wasn't being the best Alpha. I thought I'll never get this chance. Now that I have, never before have I felt complete. You got my soul, without you, I am literally nothing." He sighed and looked down at his lap sadly. "I would just hate for the carpet to be ripped from under my feet."
I was in tears, never did I think that I could hurt him as much with just my words. "I'm so sorry."
He reached over and held onto my hand. "It's okay, just please never do that again."
"I won't, I swear." He kissed my hand. There were a few make-up kisses before we went inside. Honestly, I wasn't in the mood to go to Liz's, I just wanted to lie in bed and cuddled up next to my mate.
