"Oops, I'm sorry I didn't mean it like that." She said apologetically.

"It's fine." I waved it off.

"It's that, it different with you being mated to my brother, you're practically one of us."

"If you say so, but I still wouldn't want to isolate people just because they weren't the same as me."

She nodded. "You're right, I going to try and be friendlier to the humans."

"You do that?"

I dropped Lily off back to the pack house before driving the short distance to Ryan and I's house. As soon as I pulled up Ryan came out the house and greeted me.

"You work too much." He kissed my cheek and guided me into the house by my waist.

"What?" I laughed.

"I'm serious." He helped me take off my jacket before bending down to take my gym shoes off as I held onto his shoulders. After he grabbed my hand and led me to the dining room where there was a candle lit dinner.

"How sweet?"

"You're welcome." He pulled out my chair and I took a seat.

On the table sat baked chicken and salad. "This looks great. Did you actually cook it this time?" I said before taking a sip of the glass full of white wine.

"Very funny, and I did."

It wasn't until a couple of days ago that I found out that it was actually his mom who cooked that meal for us the first night that I had come over. I found it sweet that he wanted to impress me so bad that he lied.

"Back to what I was saying. I think you should spend more time here."

"I'm here every night," I said completely dumbfounded by what he was talking about.

"True, but I'm talking about in the day time."

I cut the piece of chicken breast and placed it into my mouth, once it was swallowed I responded. "You knew when I met you that I worked full time."

"I get that but..." He trailed off.

"What?"

He looked like he was struggling to find the right words. "Wolves tend to be clingy, but I totally get the whole thing about modern society been where women work full times jobs."

"And?" I felt my eyebrows raise.

"I just think there should be some... compromises."

"Compromises?"

Please don't let him turned out to be one of those stupid conservatives that think women should just cook and birth children all day.

He held his hand up so that I knew he wasn't posing a threat. "On both ends of course."

"I thought we already had that."

"That wasn't the whole pack."

"Okay, but can we leave a bit early I promised Liz that I would make it to her birthday celebration."

"We could do that." Even though he begin eating his food he gave off this vibe that he wanted to say or do more.

"Is there anything else?" I waited for him to go on.

"What? No." He shook his head, leaving me to believe that there was, in fact, more.

"Are you sure?"

"Fine." He sat his fork down. "Do you remember when my mom brought up the marking?"

"Yes?" My palms suddenly felt sweating and there were butterflies in my stomach.

"If you're not ready then that's fine too." He said nervously.

The only information I had about the mark was from Lisa, and even then she didn't go into detail, not that I wanted her too. From what I had gathered it seem like a really intimate thing, that was a way to show that you belong to the other person. I found it weird that wolves went to great measures to mark their territory but in a way, I guess it similar to the way humans are about married people wearing their wedding ring.

"No, I'm ready."

"Okay then," He pushed his chair back and proceeded to stand up.
