"I'm at Ryan's," I answered calmly.

"And you couldn't answer any of my calls. Melissa said that you were sick and was at the hospital. I called and went to every hospital in the city."

"There's only two hospitals," I argued.

"It doesn't matter. I thought you died."

"I didn't have a charger." I lied.

"Are you serious?" She took a deep breath to calm herself down. "Just tell me, are you pregnant?"

"What?"

"Are you fucking pregnant?" She screamed into the phone.

"NO! I'm not pregnant?" I finally answered her back.

"I coming over and I bringing a pregnancy test." I heard some shuffling in the background.

"That not necessary Liz, I said I'm not pregnant. It was just food poisoning. "

"That's not what Melissa said." She argued.

"Well, she lied. Anyways I'm fine."

"I'll believe it when I see it. Send me Ryan's address."

From the background, I could hear the sound of a car starting up. Looking at the clock I saw that it was after nine o'clock, and considering I had to be up early I wasn't interested in having this conversation this late. "No way, it's already late enough."

"Alex!"

"I'll see you tomorrow Liz." I hung up.

He shrugged "Well that went pleasantly."

"Right," I muttered sarcastically. "I'm not looking forward to seeing her or Melissa."

"I wouldn't be either."

My mind drifted to the guilty expression that he previously wore. "You don't have to feel guilty I sure they weren't that worried." I rubbed his shoulder.

"What?"

"I saw the look on your face when Liz brought up me been pregnant."

"Oh, well yea I felt guilty about that." He laughed nervously and scratched his head. The action was something he did a lot when he was lying.

"Ryan?" I shot him an annoyed dry look. "Tell me what it is?"

Hearing him say those words made my heart flutter. Having a 'pup' wasn't exactly what I wanted in my life right now but strangely enough, it didn't seem as scary with Ryan. Before him, I never knew how easy it was to love someone so fast and so deeply.

I smiled. "You're an idiot."

As soon as I walked into work the next day I was met by a breathtaking hug. "Never do that again," Melissa said as she squeezed the life out of me.

"Fine." I agreed and unwrapped Melissa hands from around me. "How have work been?"

I felt bad for leaving her with so much responsibility but the place was still standing and from the looks of things there were no major issues. Plus I am sure that the others helped ease the load on her.

"Business is doing great. The customers love the need decor."

Looking around the place, I still couldn't believe that this was the same place. "Great! Well, I'm gonna go in my office and do some paperwork."

She hugged me once again. "Okay." She said sounding as if she really didn't want to let me go.

"Just in my office," I reassured her. She nodded and I left her to finished setting up while I went into my office.

I started off by responding to the many of the phone calls and emails that I missed. One of the emails happens to be by Ivy who was the assistant manager over at The Red Café. It was then that I remembered that I was supposed to be overseeing the place.

The email just laid out all the basic information of the restaurant. I replied to her that I would be in later today to check things out for myself. I finished off the rest of my emails before looking over the books from these past few days. It turns out that we had made triple the amount of money that we made on the average day before we had the place remodeled. We were only a few thousand dollars from flipping my investment.
