Lately because I spent all my time in the office, after daycare she was either at the restaurant with her father or at my mother's house. If I was going to continue to work hours like this, Mel and I would need to think about hiring a babysitter.

"What don't you like about this one?" I said trying my best not to give him attitude.

It was an 8000 square feet house with five bedrooms, 6 bathrooms. A pool and a huge backyard that was perfect for barbecues. It was in a good neighborhood with a good local elementary school for his future kids and a country club that he and his wife could spend their time at. What's not to like about it?

"Seems like a bit too much." He responded vaguely, making me lose my cool.

"And what exactly is too much about it," I said with much-needed attitude.

He turned around to face me. "Is there a problem with me not liking it Mrs. Anderson?"

"Not at all Mr. Matos," I grumbled out. "How about we pick this up again tomorrow. It's getting quite late, and I have to pick my daughter up."

"What?" He growled animalistic. "You have a daughter."

My eyebrows knitted together. "Yes. Is that a problem?"

Me having a child has nothing to do with my work. I go to work every day and work harder than most people in the office without children and still managed not to miss out on anything that concerned my daughter.

"Matter of fact, it is. How could you have a daughter? You're supposed to be mine!" He answered angrily.

My eyes drifted to the door that was not that far from me. If I could put those old cross country days to use I could make it out of here unscathed. "What are you talking about, I'm married."

"You're mine!" He said coming closer to me.

"What the hell, Heather. Where have you been?" Mel yelled at me as I walked inside the house.

It had been a whole entire day of craziness and dysfunction. I had learned that James Matos was a werewolf and was apparently my mate. When I first heard him say those words I was quite confused and in disbelief. He showed me his wolf and I was instantly mesmerized by his all black wolf with varies white spot around him. He explained to me the ends and outs of the werewolf world and what it meant for me to be his mate. This conversation ended up taking longer than expected and it wasn't until the early hours of this morning when I noticed how late it had been and rushed away right away. The conversation ended with me telling him that I needed time to think, and him being okay with that.

I pulled out eggs from the fridge and began scrambling eggs. Placing a pan on the stove, I turned the fire on and threw a slice of butter in the pan. When the eggs were done I placed some bread in the toaster and called Alex down for breakfast.

She came down in her princess pajamas. "Mama, where were you?" She ran up to me and held her hands up wanting me to hold her. I picked her up and she wrapped her legs around my waist.

"Sorry sweetheart, I got caught up at work." I kissed her cheek.

"Oh, okay." She shrugged nonchalantly.

I smiled at her carefree attitude. "Go wash your hands, so you can eat. Then I'll take you to daycare."

"School." She corrected me.

Alex had insisted that I refer to her daycare as a school. She's at the point in her life where she thinks that she is a big girl and wants to be referred to as one.
