Sabrina's POV

I grew up being taught about sacred law. A law that forbids me to seek love outside the love fated to me.

Taught to respect it.

Taught to uphold it and teach it to my children as well.

I know of a mate. I know how it feels to be mated, to be so overly consumed with love that you see nothing else. You dream of nothing else but of the love your soul longs for. Distance is the weapon to kill the heart and a wolf's cry is a painful sight. To be told I am only mated to Aiden for reasons political... leaves a sour taste in my mouth.

"I think this will be interesting..." Josey says to me.

"Don't I get a say in all of this?" Aiden asks, looking at me for all the answers but I was blank. Still trying to process what was said to me and the woman leaving before I could come up with the questions needed to better challenge their decision which affects my life.

"First, I need to deal with Xander refusing my gift," I say, turning to face Xander who looked alarmed by my words.
