Chapter 275 The Baby Can’t Be Saved novel Passionate Devotion: Master Fudd's Beloved Wife

These days, Heaton would go to work at the office and Verian would be left with nothing to do at home. Thus, she would always bring over some nutritious soup to the hospital when visiting James.

James always had a kind, lovely expression and looked her in the eyes. “You’re such a good child. Since being admitted into the hospital, I’ve yet to see the sight of Janny. On the contrary, I’ve troubled you so much to the extent that you have been visiting and even preparing soup for me. Verian, thank you so much.”

Verian smiled and answered, “I’m just showing filial respect to you on behalf of Heaton. I ought to do so. Besides, I’m bored being alone at home and I’ve nothing better to do either. That’s why I’m here to visit you.”

James Fudd saw the sunny weather from the window. “Verian, take me out for a stroll and let me sunbathe a little.”

“Alright.”

Donning a hospital gown, he got out of the bed. Verian helped him up and together, they took a leisurely stroll toward the backyard of the hospital.

James had been wanting to ask her something. He looked into her eyes and probed her. “Your dad treated both you and your mom well, right?”

Verian nodded with a smile. “Yes, my dad treated my mom and I exceptionally well. However, my mom passed away early on and although my dad remarried, he still loved me. Sadly enough, three years ago, my dad passed away too…”

Upon saying this, there was a trace of loneliness and sadness across her face.

James nodded and sighed. He then consoled her, “Everyone has their own fate and don’t feel depressed. You’re a good child and God will definitely take good care of you.”

“Being married to Heaton is probably the best thing that has ever happened to me.”

When Jane entered the ward, she realized that there was no one in the room. Looking around, her expression grew frigid when she saw the crucian carp soup on the cabinet.

She left the ward and stopped the nurse who always took James’ body temperature. “Nurse, where did my dad go?”

“Ah, I think I saw your dad taking a stroll in the backyard just now.”

Jane arrived at the backyard and in the middle, surrounded by stone statues, she saw James and Verian.

Verian assisted him in walking around the park. The two of them were happily chit-chatting and it looked like they got along harmoniously.

The moment she witnessed this scene, the jealousy she felt deep within her heart intensified.

Why would everyone take a liking toward Verian?

Even her biological father was biased toward this outsider!

Jane strode toward them and pushed Verian away. “Why are you here!”

Verian was caught off-guard as she was forcefully pushed from behind. She stumbled and nearly fell to the ground.

She unconsciously protected her belly and fortunately, there was no mishap.

James frowned and quickly supported her. “Verian, are you okay? Is your stomach okay?”

“Second Uncle, I’m fine.”

Verian stood firm and shook her head at James.

James then shifted his gaze to Jane who just arrived. His brows were tightly knitted. In a stern voice, James lectured, “Why did you push your sister-in-law?! Don’t you know that your sister-in-law is pregnant? You’re so rude!”

With her fists clenched, Jane gritted her teeth and stared at James. She then pointed at Verian. “Who knows what this woman is plotting behind your back! She visits you so frequently these days and she doesn’t even have blood relations with you. Does she wish to inherit your assets by caring for you?!”

Blood relations…

James’ expression changed upon hearing those two words. He slapped Jane across her face.

“What nonsense are you rambling on about?!”

The old man’s hand trembled slightly as it hung rigidly in the air.
