Evelyn's days had turned into an endless stretch of darkness, just like Jean's. However, out of consideration for their past relationship, Daniel hadn't pushed her to the edge. He'd provided her with a few heating equipment at least. It wasn't much, but it was better than nothing.

After being locked in the basement for over a month, Evelyn's mind started to slip. Their family physician told Daniel, "If you keep her confined like this, she's likely to develop a serious mental illness."

But Daniel didn't care. He didn't take the doctor's advice seriously at all. Instead, he instructed Gigi to visit Evelyn when she had time. After all, they were mother and daughter. Surely, seeing her daughter would lift Evelyn's spirits.

He also told the bodyguard to allow Gigi to visit Evelyn and bring her food. He didn't particularly care about Evelyn's well-being, but he did care about his family's reputation. He couldn't have a mentally ill lady in the house.

Gigi's heart ached when she noticed Evelyn's ghostly complexion and the empty look in her eyes. "Mom, why don't you just apologize to Dad? Kneel if you have to. Beg him to forgive you, and promise you won't see that man again. Wouldn't that solve everything?"

Gigi had only heard Daniel talk about Evelyn's affair with Lucas once. When she found out her mother had cheated, she was devastated.

As the spoiled princess of Janctera City, Gigi changed boyfriends more often than she changed clothes. Even so, she had never juggled multiple relationships at once, let alone cheated. She always ended things cleanly before moving on to the next.
