Zivon simply grunted in response, disregarding Nathan’s high praise of Mr. South. After all, what designer would be dumb enough to deprioritize him?

Whatever the case was, once morning came, he sent Xavia a message, stating, ‘Sorry, but I have a sudden meeting to attend today. That aside, I need to briefly attend Sophia’s mother’s birthday tonight as well. I’ll meet up with you immediately after I’m done with everything.’

Unbeknownst to Zivon, Xavia was currently in too much pain to notice his message! The woman had stayed up most of last night, and just when she was finally drowsy enough to fall asleep in the morning, she was suddenly swept by a wave of nausea! Thankfully, a doctor was nearby, and after checking on her, he found out that she was allergic to their drugs.

Apparently, her body was different from regular people. Because of this, the administered drug didn’t take effect until this morning, which explained her sudden surge of dizziness. Though it didn’t sound serious, failure to tackle the situation could potentially lead to her death!

With that in mind, the doctor—who was worried that his mistake would cost him his career—did everything he could to make the situation right again… and once he was done, he was prompted to ask, “Feeling any better, miss…?”

Xavia herself—who was currently lying on a bed—couldn’t immediately respond due to how much her world was spinning. In the end, she managed to slowly shake her head before saying, “I-”

However, that was all she managed to say before throwing up! With how much she was vomiting, the fearful doctor quickly patted her on the back while handing her a glass of water as he replied, “D-don’t worry, vomiting is normal, though… Do you have any other issues I’m unaware of? While I’d love to help, I can’t administer you any more medicine for now… I’m truly sorry…”

Since Xavia knew his reasoning, she didn’t exactly blame him. With that in mind, she waited till her stomach had settled again… and after placing her hand on her stomach, she slowly said, “Don’t… worry about it, doctor… I’ll live…”

It was later that evening when the ringing of a phone suddenly broke the silence in the ward. Unsure what to expect, the tired Xavia answered the call… only to hear a familiar and polite voice saying, “Hello? Miss Lockhart? It’s Dana, Sophia’s mother.”

…Why was she calling? After a pause, Xavia replied, “…It’s been a while, Auntie. Can I help with anything?”

“As a matter of fact, you can! Basically, since you’ve helped Sophia so much, I’m hoping that you’ll attend my birthday party today! I’ve even prepared a special gift for you! Consider it to be my way of thanking you. That aside, I should clarify that I looked a bit into your family… and I was shocked to find out how terribly the Lockharts treated you!”

“Though they see you as an omen of bad luck, I’ve seen how kind and friendly you truly are! With that in mind, I personally think that you’re a lucky star… Me and Sophia’s lucky star. But all that aside… I’d like to make you my goddaughter, if you don’t mind. What do you say?”
