Even if Xavia had indirectly caused most of this, her intentions had been kind, so she shouldn’t have to be blamed like that.

Regardless, Sophia simply sneered in response. There was no way in hell that she would let Xavia off the hook that easily! Her mother was dead for God’s sake! How much did this man love that woman for him to be this blinded by favoritism?!

Now fully inconsolable, Sophia retorted, “I beg your pardon, President Burton? My mother died! Are you expecting me to be grateful to Xavia instead? I apologize, but I simply can’t do that.”

Following that, Sophia walked off, prompting Zivon to squint as she went further and further away… After a sigh, he returned to the courtyard where Xavia could still be seen looking extremely downcast at the bench.

Walking to her side, he then said, “Don’t take what she said to heart. She’s just a bit irrational due to her anger at the moment.”

Naturally, there was no way that Xavia could ignore all that. For one, not only had she liked Dana, but she kind of considered Sophia to be a friend as well. With that in mind, how couldn’t she feel bad for indirectly causing Dana’s death while also making Sophia hate her? Even so, Xavia knew better than to wallow in self-pity. After all, she knew that in the end, the most agonized one was Sophia.

With that in mind, she collected her thoughts and got to her feet before saying, “…I’ll try not to. That aside, do help Miss Harrison with the funeral arrangements for now… I can only imagine how busy she’s going to be in the next few days…”
