He had been angry for no reason!

Even if Mark and her used to be very close and were friends now, what gave him the right to treat her that way just because they had met?

It was rude, unreasonable, and inexcusable!

“Miss, please be kind?” At that moment, a voice sounded nearby.

Xavia looked down, only to find that she had unknowingly walked under a flyover and a ragged beggar was looking at her expectantly with a bowl in his hands.

His face was dirty and he only had one good leg. He looked pitiful, and it reminded Xavia that though she sometimes felt she had no shoes to wear, there were people who did not even have functioning legs.

Xavia sympathized with him, and probably because of her depressed mood, she took out a hundred dollars and placed it into his bowl.

“Hey, miss, can you give me some more since you have so much in your bag?” The beggar said suddenly when Xavia was about to leave. He eyed Xavia up and down before saying, “Miss, I can see that you’re well-dressed and do not look like you’re lacking money. You can afford to be a little generous and provide me with some relief, right? I have a small child at home and an old mother that I have to feed.”

Xavia was put in a tough spot. She generally did not carry cash with her when she went out. The few hundred dollars that she had was for emergencies, but looking at the beggar’s pitiful appearance, Xavia couldn’t help but open her wallet to give him some more money.

However, before Xavia could take the money out, the beggar reached out. “Give it to me!”

All of the money in her hand was taken away—not even a cent was left behind.

Xavia was speechless.

Was this a beggar or a robber?!

“I have a thousand dollars here. Come and get it.” A low voice growled suddenly.

The beggar looked up and saw a handsome man standing not far away. He had a stack of cash in his wallet. The beggar’s eyes instantly lit up and he ran over to the man.

Wasn’t he a cripple? How could he run?

Xavia saw the mold on the ground and it suddenly dawned on her.

This man was a swindler!

Xavia looked around and realized that what he said was true, and she was not stupid enough to put herself in danger just because she was angry.

“I’ll walk by myself.” Xavia shook off his hand and turned around to walk upwards instead.

The corners of Zivon’s mouth curled up in amusement. “Since you’re so certain that you want to break up, let’s find a place to talk things out, including what you owe me and what hasn’t been cleared up between the both of us.”

Talk things out? What hadn’t been cleared up?

He was actually losing his patience after such a short while? Xavia felt her heart ache like a knife had been run through it.

Although she was really angry and did not expect him to coax her, she was still a little surprised because he was suddenly so determined. She took a deep breath and said, “Okay. Where should we go to talk?”

Zivon narrowed his eyes. “The apartment. It’s nearby and quiet there.”

He had even figured out the place?

“Okay.” Xavia gritted her teeth and walked out angrily. She pulled the car door open, got into the car, and slammed the car door shut.
