“…T-that’s fine, I don’t mind hailing a cab, though… I’m here for a different reason. Basically, I’d like to know whether I’ve done something to make you upset… Could it be some other misunderstanding…?”

After thinking for a bit, Zivon replied, “Not at all.”

He, of all people, knew that it was a fact. Regardless, Xavia was left even more confused than before. If he hadn’t misunderstood anything, then why was he still this icy?

A while later, she took a deep breath before saying, “…Does that mean you don’t wish to marry me anymore? Or do you still wish to delay it a little longer? Honestly, I think marrying so abruptly isn’t the right way to do it either. After all, your company is still new, so you should wait till it fully matures before we host the wedding…”

Though she was simply trying to be understanding, her words meant something different to Zivon. He, for one, had been eager every time he proposed that they get married. But to her, his eagerness was apparently seen as ‘abrupt’? Putting his spoon down, the irked man replied, “…Since you think we’re moving too quickly, I guess we should put our marriage on hold.”

This left Xavia momentarily speechless. Why did it seem like the more she talked, the worse the situation became…? After pursing her lips, she quickly replied, “No, I-”

“I’m busy, so please leave for now,” interrupted Zivon as he headed back to his desk, leaving Xavia frozen in place. With how cold he was, there had to be a misunderstanding at play! Still, knowing full well that she wouldn’t be able to talk to him right now, she ended up leaving the office…

On her way out, she bumped into Nathan who had a stack of documents in hand. Not wanting to miss this chance, she quickly pulled the man aside while asking, “Could I have a word, Mr. Miller?”

Before Xavia could even finish her sentence, however, Nathan showed her a picture from his phone… A picture of Charlie pinning her against the wall! Due to the angle, the two looked like they were having an intimate moment… and just like that, Xavia understood the entire situation.

“…So, Zivon has been angered because of this?”

Displeased by her reaction, Nathan replied, “…Isn’t it reasonable for him to be enraged? If my girlfriend did this to me, I’d just break up with her on the spot! Just so you know, he came to the office to calm down, just so that he wouldn’t say anything unpleasant to you. Can’t you see how tolerant he’s being? “He only laid on his massage chair to sleep after I told him to take a short break this morning… Either way, please don’t continue hurting him like this, Miss Lockhart…”
