It was Matthew and Mark!

Understandably surprised by their sudden appearance, Ian replied, “…A herb, you say?”

“Indeed. After intensive research and searching around, we finally found a herb that’s rumored to be able to cure all poisons! Though I doubt that it will fully dispel the poison, I can safely say that it will at least help with her current situation!” explained Matthew, prompting Ian to pause for a moment before eventually giving them the green light to use it on Xavia.

Fast forward to ten minutes later, Lana exited the ward while exclaiming, “T-the herb is a wonder! She’s finally stopped coughing blood, and her condition has stabilized quite a bit as well!”

Upon hearing that, everyone was quick to breathe sighs of relief. Looking at Matthew, Zivon eventually said, “…Thank you.”

“Wrong person to be thanking. If anyone deserves your thanks, it should be Mark,” replied Matthew, prompting everyone to look at Mark… And now that things had finally calmed down a little, they finally realized that he had come in a wheelchair! What’s more, his clothes were all covered in mud, and his right leg was heavily bandaged…

Seeing the hints of red seeping through the bandages, the frowning Ian was quick to ask, “…What on earth happened to you?”

It was at that moment when the ward’s doors opened, and the lead doctor was quick to say, “Mrs. Burton’s coughing has ceased, and she can be visited in about an hour. In the meantime, we’ll be discussing her new condition. Feel free to join us, Young Master Burton, and Dr. Rudner.”

Nodding in response, the two men then quickly joined the other doctors in the conference room… and in the end, the only person left in the hallway was Mark. Leaning against his wheelchair, he closed his eyes to divert the pain from his aching leg… He was finally going to meet Xavia again… They hadn’t met ever since he had gotten married to Stella, so he couldn’t help but wonder how she was faring…

Fast forward to two hours later, the group of people finally left the conference room… and as expected, everyone had grim expressions on their faces. At the end of the day, no amount of talking would change the fact that only the antidote would be able to save her…
