Upon reading that, Zivon was quick to squint. Sure, she had been slightly more lenient with her conditions, but was she seriously expecting him to hug her throughout the night just because he couldn’t come back on time?!

Lowering his phone, he turned to look at Xavia and the kids who all seemed to be having a good time… He really didn’t want to ruin the atmosphere, but after reading Whitney’s threat, he knew that it was better not to push his luck. With his mind made up, he silently got to his feet before gesturing to Nathan to send them back once the movie was over.

It was only after he had entered his car when he sent a text to Xavia, stating, ‘Sorry, there’s an emergency at the lab and I need to rush over. Enjoy the movie with the kids.’

Following a short pause, Xavia replied, ‘Is it that urgent…? You promised the kids that you’d spend the night with them, you know…?’

Feeling increasingly guilty, it took him a while to text, ‘Sorry, but they really need me at the lab. Don’t worry, I’ll make it up to them next time.’

He hated the fact that he had to lie like this, but what other choice did he have? Thankfully, Xavia eventually replied, ‘Alright… Be careful there.’

‘I will. You can expect Nathan to pick you up after the movie ends.’

With that message sent, he began driving toward the villa…

Following that, she quickly ran over to his car… only to be hit by a wave of disappointment. Seated in the trunk, was a giant doll that honestly wasn’t anything special. What’s more, it wasn’t packaged at all, and it still had the clearance sale sticker attached to it…! It was evident that he had bought this just to shut her up! Hell, the fact that he had bought her a discounted item was clearly an indirect way of him saying that she only deserved that much!

Now brimming with fury, she clenched her fists before walking over to Zivon’s side and growling, “Don’t you think you’re pushing it a bit too far, Brother Zivon…?! At the end of the day, I saved Xavia’s life! Can’t you respect me a little for that?! You could’ve at least given me flowers! How am I expected to interpret this gift…?!”

Not even flinching, Zivon condescendingly replied, “What? I got you a gift, didn’t I? Do you hate it that much?”
