Watching as Zivon gestured for him to leave, Nathan nodded before quickly helping Zivon put his pants on and saying, “…You can stop closing your eyes now… His pants are on. With that said, I’ll be taking my leave first.”

Upon hearing that, Xavia was prompted to peek in Zivon’s direction… and almost immediately after, her cheeks went all red again. After all, while it was true that he had his pants on now, he remained shirtless!

“W-why didn’t you put his shirt on as well…?”

“…Mrs. Burton, he got shot in the waist, so… Putting a shirt on would be more than inconvenient for him…”

When she heard that, she turned to look at his waist… and sure enough, it was wrapped with bandages… Why hadn’t she noticed that earlier? How embarrassing!

Since Xavia wasn’t saying anything, Nathan cleared his throat before quickly leaving the ward and closing the door behind him… and now that Xavia was all alone with Zivon, she couldn’t help but avert her gaze, still embarrassed about what had just happened…

Thankfully, Zivon was the first to break the silence by asking, “Have they told you the truth regarding the situation?”

Nodding slightly, Xavia replied, “Dr. Presley told me, and I had come running over to thank you for all your troubles… A-also, I wanted to see how you were doing, but now that it seems that you’re fine, I’ll be taking my leave-”

It took him a while, but Zivon eventually said, “…Thank you for staying alive, Xav… For insisting on keeping the child alive… And for not falling for another man…”

His words were brimming with emotion, and Xavia couldn’t help but feel her heart beat even faster. Following a rather long pause, she ultimately replied, “…I… I should be the one thanking you… For planning everything behind the scenes… And for not sleeping with Fiona…”

Raising a slight brow, Zivon then said, “Hey, I already told you that I would only ever touch my wife… Even if we actually get divorced, I will never touch anyone other than you…”

Upon hearing that, Xavia had to actively hold back from biting her lower lip. Back when she first met him at the village, she had assumed that he was like the other men… Just somebody who had issues holding back his desires… But now, she could safely say that that wasn’t the case.

Her train of thought was cut short when he gently lifted her chin before asking, “…May I kiss you, Xav…?”
