A loud cheer shook the tavern as he turned to leave.

Now it was time to deal with his wife.

Brienna watched as the woman and another servant dutifully fill the tub with steaming water. As the last bucket was poured she saw Gavin enter.

"Out!" He ordered.

Immediately they finished, picked up the buckets and left.

He quietly stood by the door jam watching her as he removed his cloak tossing it to the ground. He entered slowly and slammed the door shut, locking the latch in place.

She flinched.

His eyes never left hers as his immense frame leaned against the door.

Fear washed over her that she refused to show.

"Do you have any idea of the danger you put yourself in coming here tonight," he spoke breaking their silence.

She averted her eyes.

"I...had to," she whispered.

"No, what you had to do Brienna, was stay within the walls of Ravenhurst. Not come here in the dead of the night to get your self killed," he yelled.

"You don't understand!" she argued.

"I understand everything," his jaw clenched. "I understand that you are foolish and reckless enough to put your life in danger."

"I can defend myself," she retorted.

"Says the girl that struggled between two men that took her for a wench," he scoffed.

"I did not need you to defend me three months ago and I don't need you to defend me now," she sobbed angrily.

Her beautiful eyes filled with tears spewed fire and defiance and it rose his anger.

His large battle-honed body towered over her, his power and intense stare inspired fear. She swallowed hard and stepped back. Tear filled eyes looked into his.

"I have taken great strides in putting up with your rebellious ways, having you challenge me at every chance you have, you deliberately disobeying me and I will not have any more of it, Brienna. Am I understood," he boomed.

She averted her gaze.

He tilted her chin up and saw her tears fall.

" Seeking revenge out of hatred Brienna is something that will devour your very soul" he held her gaze.

"Defoe is a very dangerous man, that won't hesitate to end your life with a snap of his finger Brienna, don't you understand? " he spoke trying to get her to understand reason.

"I do not fear him just as I do not fear you," She whispered harshly through trembling lips.

Fury blazed in his eyes as he inched closer to her. His jaw clenched and she began to panick. He stood a hairs length from her and leaned close to face her. He held her chin in his fingers, and looked deep into her eyes.
