The bedroom door was just slightly open. Lincoln lingered at the threshold, listening to his daughter's soft, self-directed conversations. The tears he'd been holding back started to spill, full of a tender, aching sadness.

The doctor had warned him: when depression gets severe, it can cause auditory hallucinations and talking to oneself. Faced with his beloved daughter's struggle, Lincoln felt utterly lost. He couldn't fathom what made Nathan so special that his daughter was head over heels for him.

Quietly, he turned on his heel and left the room. Picking up his phone, he dialed an old friend, hoping for some guidance.

"Harry, I'm really at a loss here, so I'm turning to you. My sweet daughter was talking to herself today, and I'm terrified she might decide to leave me one day. Could you lend me your charming son again? I figure the best way for her to get over one relationship is to dive into another."

"Mr. Stewart, what are you talking about? You and Flora were the ones who brought me and my wife together. Naturally, I’ll do whatever I can to help your daughter. Trust me, my son will drop everything to help Vivian if she needs it."

Lincoln's tears flowed anew. "I truly don’t know how to thank you."

Meanwhile, at the Chen household, after hanging up, Harry felt a sharp gaze boring into him from behind. He turned to find his son Diego glaring daggers at him.

"Dad, when is this gonna stop?"

"I'm your son, not some tool for repaying old debts."

Harry slapped his hand on the table. "How can you talk like that? That's Mr. Lincoln! Without him, your mother and I might not have ended up together, and you wouldn’t even exist. You should have a conscience. His daughter needs help. Why wouldn't you lend a hand? Even if she were a stranger, you’d help a woman in distress. Let alone the daughter of someone who helped us."

"Vivian, today’s my college reunion, and the class president insists we bring partners. You see, I’m still single, and if I show up alone, everyone will just try to set me up. Could you pretend to be my girlfriend for the day?"

Nathalie was caught off guard for a moment.

Diego rambled on, "Most of my college buddies got married and started families right after graduation. But I went on to get my master's and doctorate, which put my personal life on hold. Every time I see them, they’re eager to play matchmaker. But I really don’t want to go on any blind dates..."

"Alright, I’ll help you out," Nathalie, ever the helpful spirit, agreed.
