Morris kept his face blank, but his handsome eyebrows were furrowed with concern. Lincoln continued, "Ashley called you Nathan, so is your last name Rowland? Are you really the heir of the Rowland family? No wonder my brother thinks so highly of you; it's because of your prestigious family background."

Yet, Lincoln didn't seem impressed by Morris's noble roots. In fact, he looked down on him even more. "But don't think I'll respect you just because you come from a fancy family. I'm not superficial. My daughter doesn't need to marry into wealth; she's already got that. I just want her to find someone who genuinely loves and cherishes her."

Morris suddenly felt a playful urge and teased, "How do you know I'm not the one who truly loves and cherishes her?"

He had given his heart, his everything to her. How could Lincoln be so blind to it?

Lincoln retorted with arrogance, "You might have a tiny bit of affection for her. But with your on-again, off-again behavior with Ashley, I would never let my daughter end up with a guy as fickle as you. You're not committed."

Morris sighed silently. He shot Lincoln a piercing look. "If I hadn’t kept things ambiguous with Ashley, do you think your daughter would have walked away from me?"

Lincoln was taken aback. "What are you saying? Did you really flirt with Ashley just to mislead my daughter?"

Morris nodded slightly, confirming it.

Lincoln thought for a moment, then muttered, "Do you really not care for my daughter? What's wrong with her? Or are you judging her because she's been married before?"

"No..." Morris shouted, his voice filled with emotion. "I've never looked down on her."

Not being able to stop her from marrying Cameron was his biggest regret. Every time he thought about it, it tore at his heart. How could he ever despise her?

Lincoln paused, "If that's the case, why don't you care for my daughter?"
