Nathalie couldn't help but feel a thrill as she faced a table piled high with mouth-watering dishes. With enthusiasm, she grabbed a piece of twice-cooked pork and popped it into her mouth, only to find it fiery hot. She swallowed it quickly, leaving a super salty taste lingering on her tongue.

Reaching for her glass, she downed the water in one gulp, trying to wash away the salty kick.

Morris chuckled at her antics.

When Lincoln brought over the last dish, he glanced at Nathalie, a bit taken aback. “Vivian, how's it taste?”

Nathalie nodded eagerly, “It's delicious,” she said, pulling the salty pork closer and devouring it in big bites.

Morris watched Nathalie, already knowing the pork wasn’t as tasty as she let on. He realized she was quietly trying to spare her dad’s feelings by eating it all.

Morris suddenly reached out with his fork for a piece of pork, but Nathalie quickly snatched it back. “Nathan, this is Nathalie’s favorite. You can have the other stuff.”

Lincoln, ever the doting dad, surprisingly chided Nathalie. “Vivian, don’t hog all the food.”

Nathalie couldn’t find the words to explain her predicament.

Seizing the moment, Morris took the plate of pork. “Exactly,” he said with a grin, gracefully popping a piece into his mouth.

Nathalie watched him nervously, fearing Morris, ever the honest one, might spill the beans about the dish’s saltiness, which would surely dent her father’s pride.

But to her surprise, Morris remained cool and collected, calmly eating without showing any hint of the pork’s overpowering saltiness.

Nathalie felt a wave of gratitude. Like her, Nathan appreciated her dad's effort, choosing to bear the not-so-great dishes rather than let him down.
