In response to that, Elijah cocked an eyebrow. There was a smile on his lips. It was as if he was gloating at their misery.

"Mr. Ford, you also heard her. You and Liesel are completely in the past now, do you understand? I also hope you will stop getting in between us," he continued. It sounded like he was trying to intentionally provoke Jacob.

Jacob's gaze didn't falter, but he gave Liesel a quick glance.

Liesel looked down at the injury on her palm. "Elijah, there's nothing between us either," she said in an indifferent voice. She kept her tone detached like she was trying to clearly draw boundaries.

Elijah smiled again. "There is bound to be something between us in the future." With that, he hung up.

Liesel gripped her phone. She could feel Jacob's gaze on her. She looked up at him, and her eyes seemed to be asking him how he was feeling.

"Elijah isn't a good match for you," he said in warning.

Suddenly, her phone vibrated and lit up. Jordan had just sent her a text that said, "Everything is ready. We have snatched away all of the Sharp family's business partners, and I even paid for the father and daughter to become a trending topic on the Internet. I bet they have an 'interesting' night ahead."

Jordan was the director of Shifter Corporation and Liesel's good friend in the journey of expanding their business in the industry. Naturally, he was completely on Liesel's side. No one could blame him for being ruthless after what Jeffrey and Natalie did.
