Liesel used to hope that she could be bound to Jacob. But now, being tied to him would only bring her pain.

Seeing Jacob made her uncontrollably think of everything that had happened today. She didn't want to and couldn't accept it all.

Liesel forced a bitter smile before slowly speaking. "Can't I just prioritize myself, Alex?"

This statement left Alex momentarily speechless.

She was right. Why couldn't she do something for herself?

She had merely married Jacob, but they were divorced now. Why should she keep bending over backward for a man who had hurt her?

"Liesel, you absolutely can, but Jake is drunk right now. I'm just worried that when Mr. Ford Senior arrives, Jake might say something he shouldn't.

"Mr. Ford Senior looks healthy now, but he's been hospitalized before due to stress. He's getting older. I'm just worried something might happen."

Alex understood that Liesel was innocent. Given everything that had happened today, why should she have to come to the club to pick up Jacob?

He had already treated her so poorly. Why should she still care about him?

That said, Alex weighed the pros and cons and spoke with a hint of pleading in his voice. "Liesel, please help him."

As a mutual friend, he was indeed the most suitable person to make this request.

The dim lighting in the room, with its red and green hues, made it hard to see each other's faces clearly.

Only when she got closer did Alex finally notice the bandage on Liesel's otherwise beautiful face.

His movements halted, and his tone turned serious. "You're hurt? When did this happen?"
