Denzel had intended to take a quick look and leave, but Jeffrey recognized him and greeted him with a sycophantic smile.

However, Jeffrey tried to excuse her. "Nat is very dependent on Mr. Ford. She kept calling his name even during the surgery."

Jeffrey spoke as if to highlight Natalie's deep affection.

When Denzel heard the word "surgery," his brow furrowed slightly. "Mr. Sharp, with all due respect, what Ms. Sharp underwent isn't really classified as surgery."

His interjection interrupted Jeffrey's pretentious chatter. Jeffrey chuckled awkwardly and quickly changed the subject to flatter Denzel.

However, Denzel had long lost interest in listening to him babble.

But since Jacob was coming, he decided to stick around a little longer.

When Jacob arrived at the ward, he immediately spotted Denzel. "What are you doing here?"

Denzel casually replied, "I heard someone from your company was hospitalized, so I came to check her out."

"How badly is she hurt?"

At this moment, she looked at Jacob with her large, watery eyes. "Jake, I was so scared today. If the impact had been any more off-center, I could have injured my eye."

She grabbed Jacob's hand with her uninjured one, trying to convey just how panicked she felt in that moment.

Jacob looked down at her. Before he could speak, Natalie's voice cracked with emotion. "Jake, do you think Liesel is trying to get back at me?"
