"I just feel like you shouldn't be the one doing this. By all rights, you shouldn't be the one bandaging my wound."

If they hadn't divorced, Jacob's gentleness would have made Liesel truly happy. She might even see the scar on her palm as a symbol of their love, a badge of honor.
