Dora and Xenia could almost see through it but chose to keep quiet. 

Cherise turned slightly and whispered to them, “I’ll head back with him first, let’s hang out another time!” 

Dora and Xenia waved her off, saying, “Go ahead.” 

And just like that, Morris took Cherise by the hand and led her away. 

Watching them leave, Dora sighed softly, “Cherise is such a lamb. How can she possibly handle Morris, that big bad wolf with all his tricks?” 

“Tsk, tsk, tsk. Seeing them makes me want to fall in love! How enviable!” Xenia sighed as she watched their retreating figu remembering the man who once promised to take responsibility for her. 

It’d been two days, and Jason was still nowhere to be seen. She thought he might just be joking. What Rita said was quite right that men weren’t to be trusted, even the ones who had been drunk. She decided not to think about it.

At the branch office of Umberdon Enterprises in Betrico, as soon as Nolan sat down in his office, Torin knocked and walke in, silently standing in front of him. Nolan looked up at him, squinting. “What’s up? Why are you so quiet? 

“You cannot take another day off. It’s not allowed. You took one yesterday, so today it’s not permitted!” 

Torin shook his head. “No, it’s not about a day off. Someone sent something over, saying it’s for you. I was just considering whether to give it to you.” 

Nolan’s expression eased a bit upon hearing this. “When someone gives you something, you can’t refuse it. What is it? Brin it out, let me see.” 

Hearing the instruction, Torin boldly pulled out a stack of cash from his pocket. “This is from Mr. Chivers of Chivers Grou He sent it saying that Ms. Leach and the others just had a meal, and you covered it for them. Here’s the repayment. 

“He also said thank you for paying for them, really sorry about the trouble! The total is $973.6. Oh, there’s also 6 cents in coins in my pocket.” 

As he said this, his hand reached back into his pocket, pulling out a few coins. He placed all of them on the office desk.

Nolan picked up the cash from the desk and threw it at Torin. “Who doesn’t know, isn’t it Morris? I’m actually competing with him. When I first met Cherise, he didn’t even know which corner he was hiding in! 

“Take the money away, I don’t want to see it, throw it all out.” 

Torin chuckled when he heard this, stuffed the pile of money into his pocket, and dashed out the door. 

Watching him run off so quickly, Nolan sat in his office chair, his face turning a bit green with anger. He took a big gulp of ice–cold water, staring at Chivers Group buildings not far from the window. “Morris, Cherise is really important to me. 

“Without her, there wouldn’t be me today, and Umberton Enterprises wouldn’t be as successful as it is now. Maybe she doesn’t remember those little things, but for me, it’s a different story.

Morris sent Steven, Leo, and Hugh away, and drove Cherise up the Azure Peak to the glass conservatory called Mondial Glasshouse Bistro. The last time they were here it was summer, but now winter was starting to set in. 

There were still those beautifully romantic flowers, fine wine, music, and delicious exquisite desserts. 

“You just finished eating with Xenia and the others, have some dessert,” Morris said gently to Cherise, placing the desserts in front of her. “Try these, the chefs did a good job.” 

Cherise picked up a pièce and took a bite, nodding with satisfaction. “Hmm, pretty good. I like it.” 

“If you like it, eat some more. You’ve lost quite a bit of weight lately, and being a bit chubby isn’t bad,” Morris said to Cherise as if he were coaxing a child. 

“No way, I don’t want to be chubby,” She said with a soft laugh, looking into Morris’s deep eyes.
