Before Mayra could ask, Gordon said, “This is for you.”

“Thank you.” She smiled, her lovely dimples showing. She then sipped the sweet milk via the straw.

“Are you afraid of being caught?” he asked.

She sat sideways on the bicycle, swinging her legs leisurely and smiling. “Why should I? We’re not dating. Besides, you didn’t consent when I asked you to be my boyfriend.”

He was rendered speechless. When they arrived at school, Gordon rode through the school gate. Many teachers and students glanced over.

But after all, he was a scholarship student at the University of Belchester. His teachers considered him a scholar, making him a special exception. So, they pretended nothing had happened when they saw him with Mayra.

“Oh, Mayra, don’t get me wrong. He gave me two tickets last time. I went with my mother yesterday and didn’t see him there. I just asked you out of curiosity.”

She responded, “I was in evening class with Gordon last night. There was no bus when we returned, so he sent me back. What’s wrong? Is there a problem?”

Emily grinned and waved. “It’s nothing. I was just asking. So will he still attend evening class today?”
