Chapter 67
“I always knew that you were the best, Gordon.” Mayra hugged him, which made Gordon tense up at once.
He pushed her aside with one hand and held the mulberries in the other. “I’m dirty.”
Mayra said, “No, you’re not.”
She let go of him and straightened out his wrinkled shirt. She saw that there was a hole in it. “Go and get changed later. I’ll wash this for you.”
“It’s okay,” Gordon said quickly before escaping.
Mayra crossed her arms and watched him stumble off. She was amused. Gordon, it’s been two lifetimes, but you still get so embarrassed when I flirt with you.”
Emily bit her pen. Her heart was beating very rapidly. She sneaked a quick glance at the yard, but when she saw that it was just Mayra, her lips twitched. M–Mayra, where’s Gordon? I have a question here that I don’t know how to answer.”
Mayra walked over to her, eating mulberries.
She sat on a stool. “It’s okay, I’ll teach you. My older brother taught me this yesterday.”
Emily said, “Your older brother knows how to solve these questions? Didn’t your say that he never went to school and that he worked on a construction site?”
“That’s right! He taught himself after that. Don’t look at me, look at the question
she said.
Η
Mayra very rarely told outsiders about these things. Only Emily knew about her situation.
Who would’ve guessed that Emily had only approached Mayra for Gordon?
Emily had acted as if she was very familiar with Gordon’s house to make Mayra feel like an outsider, but it did not work on Mayra at all.
“If you don’t know how to do something, then call me.”
Chapter 67
Emily called after her, “Where are you going? Aren’t you going to do your homework?”
Emily smiled immediately. “Okay.”
“What’s going on between the two of you? How could you move on to someone else, Gordon?” Mayra demanded.
He explained, “She paid.”
Mayra turned around and leaned over the counter to look at him. “Then… do you want my money too?”
Gordon said seriously, “I don’t need you to pay.”
Chapt
Mayra smiled as she looked at him. “Gordon, you obviously like me. Why do you still keep avoiding me?”
