Chapter 72

“Wait for me, Andy.” Mayra waited for Anderson to get into the car. Just before he closed the door, she slipped in as quickly as a rabbit. Then, she shut the door. “Andy, I’m sorry. I spoke too harshly just now…”

“Drive back to the mansion,” Anderson said.

“I don’t want to go back to the mansion,” Mayra objected.

“Get out, then.” Anderson looked at her with anger in his eyes, and she was too scared to say anything else.

The car started slowly, and Mayra could sense that Anderson was really angry.

However, she couldn’t understand why he was angry.

Was he angry because she had left the mansion without telling him? But she had explained everything on the phone.

Time slipped by, and it was already 8:00 pm by the time they got back to the Barlow mansion.

Anderson had remained silent for the entire journey. He ignored Mayra completely, no matter what she said.

After he got out of the car, Anderson strode off without waiting for Mayra. She grabbed her backpack and ran after him. “Andy, wait for me.”

When they entered the foyer and the maids saw that Mayra had returned, they immediately lowered their heads to busy themselves with their work. They did not dare to speak. The table was covered with a delicious spread, but it was already cold.

“Mr. Anderson, Ms. Sadler,” the maids greeted them.

When he went upstairs, Mayra grabbed his hand. “Andy, aren’t you going to ask me why I wanted to leave the mansion all of a sudden?”

Mayra pointed at one of the maids and complained, “When you weren’t home, they refused to let me eat anything. They wanted me to starve for the whole day, and they called me a shameless social climber who’s staying here because I’m greedy for money.”
