Mayra’s mind went blank at that moment. Without hesitation, she swiftly. grabbed her backpack and packed her few belongings, including the iron. box, preparing to flee.

“Oh no, she’s trying to escape!”

Mayra looked up in panic. Seeing them coming after her, she immediately

ran.

“Don’t run!” the officers shouted.

The factory was located at the foot of a mountain, and Mayra had already. familiarized herself with the surrounding area. Losing them was as easy

as pie.

The police turned a corner only to find that the person they were looking. for had vanished without a trace. They ran breathlessly in pursuit.

“Hurry… Call the headquarters and tell them we’ve found the person in an abandoned factory behind the Southbank fishing village.

“Tell them to send more people. We’ll search around the mountain now.

We must find her.”

Mayra listened to their conversation as she lay still in a ditch. When they left, she clenched her teeth and ran deeper into the woods.

She couldn’t afford to stop. She had spent three years locked up and tortured. She would rather die outside than be locked up again.

No one knew how she had endured those three years.

Anderson’s high fever came suddenly, without any warning. Shane forcibly took him to Azure Private Hospital when it rose to over 104°F.

As Shane was completing the admission procedures at the front desk, he received a call from the police headquarters.

“Mr. Gorman, we’ve found her. She escaped to the mountains in the Southbank fishing village. The entire force, along with the villagers, is searching the mountains. We should have results in a day or two.”

Just as he was contemplating, Isabel’s voice sounded. “Did they find Mayra?” 

Isabel shook her head. “Not now. Mayra’s departure and the trouble she got into are partly my responsibility. It’s understandable that Andy doesn’t want to see me.”

Anderson probably thought that Isabel purposely had the maids target Mayra to force her out of the Barlow mansion.

After all, she was the one who selected the maids at the Barlow mansion.

If something happened to Mayra, she couldn’t escape blame.

Shane pondered over Isabel’s words. She was right. With so many people searching for Mayra, she would be found.

Her safety was crucial, but Anderson’s health was his top priority.

With the matter escalating, the Barlow family surely knew about it. Even if Anderson found Mayra and brought her back, the Barlows wouldn’t allow Mayra’s existence.
