“I am your age, but I’ve experienced many things that you might not have. I chose to make myself seem older because I prefer interacting with others in this manner,” Kevin answered. 

He seemed ready to answer all my questions, and he always made me feel as if he was perfectly at ease. 

He also seemed to be filled with a gentle, fluid sense of energy, and I could see that there was something very unique about him. 

I had never known what it meant to have poise, which was why he was always able to attract my attention within a short period of time, 

He also made it impossible for me to look away. All I wanted was to gaze silently at his face, and to forget about all the worries I had. 

“Did the competition go well today? I feel that with a talent like yours, you’ll definitely get through to the next round. However, it might not be that easy to get a good result.” 

He didn’t seem to think that I was particularly skilled, and I did admit that I was inadequate in many ways. However, what he said next surprised me. 

“Many competitions aren’t engineered for you to show your talent. It’s a place where those in power can watch those without power put on a show for them. 

“An innocent young woman like you is probably not going to become someone’s puppet, and you’re also not going to act like a monkey to curry favor with them and please them.” We’d only met once, but he was already able to accurately speak about my personality. This surprised me very much. However, the fact that he was able to know so much about it probably meant that he had once been deeply hurt by this. 

Only those who really knew the truth would speak in such a blunt manner, and I became even more sure about the truth of those rumors. 

Perhaps his sister really had gotten into trouble, or maybe Duncan had taken advantage of her. The fact that such a shameless man could still be doing so well in society showed how unjust society was.
