"A race?" Ethan shot me a half-smile.

"Yeah, a race! Let's see who gets to the south bank of Thallus River first!" I stood tall, confident as ever. "So, what do you say, Mr. Grayson? You up for it?"

Ethan's smile grew wider. "So, Ms. Wiley, a drag race, huh? Interesting. But are you sure you can handle my speed?"

"Guess we'll see!" I snorted, pulling out my car keys and pressing the remote.

The deep growl of the V8 engine broke the quiet night air.

"Hold up, that's a Dodge Challenger?" Ethan's eyes widened, not expecting me to be driving something so powerful. "Aren't cars like it usually a guy thing?"

"Exactly, it's my top pick now." I grinned, running my hand along the smooth lines of the Challenger. "850 horsepower—guess your little Ferrari can handle that, right?"

"You're really asking for it, Ms. Wiley. Let's see who comes out on top!" Ethan narrowed his eyes. He jumped into his car in a flash, revved the engine, and shot off, leaving rubber burns on the asphalt.

"Ugh, guys!" I rolled my eyes and sped off after him.

We tore through the city streets under the night sky, our engines echoing in the air. The city lights and buildings zipped by in a blur outside the windows.

Sitting behind the wheel of my steel beast, my adrenaline kicked in. I gripped the steering wheel, my eyes locked on that yellow blur ahead.

The race wasn't about winning or losing but feeling that rush again and reconnecting with the real me. It was as if I'd stepped back into those rebellious, daring days when I wasn't afraid to push the limits.

"Bring it on."

We lived out our racing-moving scene under the midnight sky. The engines roared, and the air was alive with laughter and curses. We raced through the city, battling for the lead.

I finally gave in after I was completely worn out. I slouched against the steering wheel, letting out a deep breath. "Fine, you win. I underestimated your driving."

"Thanks a lot," Ethan said with a grin, waving his hand. "You're not bad yourself. I almost got left in the dust."

I rolled my eyes at his flattery. He surely knew how to butter me up.
