Madison appeared out of nowhere with a smile that aimed to please.

"Is everything arranged?" I asked straight to the point.

Madison nodded, her eyes flashing with glee. "There's nothing to worry about, Ms. Wiley. Everything's under control. That jerk would surely fall into the trap tomorrow, and he'll die a horrible death."

A cold laugh escaped my mouth when I heard that. "Very good. Otherwise, I'll have you and your lackeys die horrible deaths."

Madison's expression shifted a little at that. She smiled wryly after that. "You're right, Ms. Wiley. We are meticulous in carrying out our tasks. I put my life on the line for this."

I nodded absent-mindedly as I glanced around. "Do we have enough men and equipment?"

Madison smiled. "Yes. I hired mercenaries from the dark web. All of them are cold-blooded people and are cruel to the extreme. They will surely cut Murphy into a gazillion pieces.

She then gestured with a hand, and a group of brawny men stepped out from the darkness. All of them looked burly and had scowls on their faces.

They stood in a line before me. It was as though they were demons out for blood, and the air they gave off could make just about anyone terrified.

I swept my gaze over them, and my eyes locked on a tall, burly man. He had thick eyebrows and a weathered face. On his nose bridge was a long and deep scar. His eyes were dark and sharp as if they would spit fire anytime.

I tilted my chin in his direction and asked, "Who's that?"

"That's Tigris. He's their leader," Madison answered.

"Okay. I'll leave the matter entirely to you," I told Madison as I glanced around. "But remember, if you try to play tricks or give up halfway…"

I paused in suspense. "Whatever happens to your daughter will have nothing to do with me! Did I make myself clear?"

Madison and the mercenaries all nodded, their eyes wide with fear.

"We won't go back on our word! Consider it done!"

Satisfied, I nodded. Apparently, they were all afraid of me. That was for the best.

Only by striking fear in their hearts would my plan go without a hitch. Even if they refused to help me, I would not hurt Madison's daughter because I knew what it felt like to lose a child.
