All the board members looked at each other in confusion, they had no idea what Mark was trying to achieve.

Arden frowned as well because he too had no idea what was going on. However, based on his understanding of Mark, if the man did not have 100% confidence, he would not have done it.

Arden looked a little unsettling.

Someone took the document and read it, when he read through all the contents of the document, the confusion on his face was replaced by shock.

“This…” The man looked at Arden in shock.

Even though the situation was uncomfortable, Arden tried to look as calm as possible.

“What’s wrong?” One of the board members asked.

Executive Emmerson was silenced by the appearance of the document because he was in the same boat with Arden now.

“Mr. Pattinson, is this your handy work? Did you forge this?” Executive Emmerson asked Mark.

Mark curled his lips into a ridiculing grin. “What do you think?”

Executive Emmerson was silenced again.

“What is happening?”

The other board members got curious and started to look at the document, but Executive Emmerson stood there stiffly as if he had been petrified.

After all the board members took a look at the document, they were all shocked.

“This…”

Arden finally got restless. “What is going on?”

“Arden, this document is about how you performed a hostile takeover of M.K.’s shares. What do you have to say for yourself?” One of the board members asked.

Arden was shocked. “What nonsense are you talking about?”

“I am not talking nonsense. Take a look for yourself.”

The document was tossed in front of Arden.

Arden took the document but when he saw the contents, he looked somewhat delighted.

The one who enjoyed the roller coaster ride the most was Mark. He sat on his seat, looking all delightful.

“Mr. Arden Pattinson, you are the mastermind behind this.”

“Mark, don’t you accuse me!”

“You know whether or not I am accusing you.”

Mark then looked at the board members. “You people chose someone like him to be M.K.’s CEO? I wonder why you people are not blind yet.”

Mark was ruthless with his comments, it silenced and embarrassed all the board members.

“Mark! Stop accusing me! You simply brought out some documents and said it’s evidence that I performed a hostile takeover of your company’s shares?!”

“If it’s not enough, I still have other evidence. Do you want to have a look?” Mark asked.

“You!”

“Oh and, if I’m right, you are also involved in the jewelry case. Arden, you’ve crossed the line.”

“Stop your nonsense!”

“You know better than anyone whether I am talking nonsense or not. You perform a hostile takeover of my company’s shares, I wonder what your company’s shareholders will think of you if they know about this. Do you think you can keep your position?”

“YOU!”

“There there, calm down. There’s more to come,” Mark said casually. His arrogance could easily silence anyone that confronted him.

“You’ll be hearing from my lawyer.”

It was then the meeting room’s door was opened and police officers came in.

“Who is Arden Pattinson?”

The police officers were obviously here for Arden.

Arden was glaring at Mark when he answered the officers, “I am.”

The officers walked over to him.

“Mr. Arden Pattinson, we received an anonymous report that you are involved in a commercial fraud, please come with us.”

Commercial fraud?

The term caught everyone off guard, all the board members had no idea what was going on.

Even Arden had no idea but he knew it must be Mark. He was not as agitated as expected, instead, he looked calm and nonchalant.

He stared at Mark and Mark smiled at him. The grudge behind that smile was deeper than anyone could imagine and only the two of them knew how deep it was.

Arden followed the officers away without saying a word, leaving the meeting room in complete silence.

Mark looked at the board members. “So, anything else?”

Everyone remained quiet, including Executive Emmerson. The look on his face was as sour as it could get.

Since no one was willing to speak, Mark decided to break the ice. “I won’t hold anyone responsible for what happened today but if there’s a next time, I’ll kick him out of the company without a second thought.”

Mark got up and wanted to leave, he did not bother to look at the annoying board members.

“Mr. Pattinson!”

Someone stood up and called Mark, which caused him to turn around.

“You can’t leave the company as it is!”

“I know what I am doing. You people are here just for the money, so stick to what you do best.” Mark then left without a clear explanation, leaving the board members in an angry and embarrassed state.

The meeting stirred up a whirlwind in the company.

While Lyla was making her way up to the meeting room, she ran into Arden.

The two of them locked eyes for a moment and an indescribable feeling arose in her heart.

Arden had expected this day to come but not this soon.

“Mhmm-hmm.”

“Then I’ll be on my way.”

“Hold on!”

Lyla turned around. “What’s wrong? Is there something else?”

Mark actually had something to say but it failed to escape his mouth. He simply smiled and brushed her off. “Nah, it’s nothing.”

Lyla smiled. “Okay then.”

“Mhmm.”

After Lyla went out, Mark tightened his lips and he looked like he was in deep thought.

Right after Lyla walked out of the office, she received Hansel’s call.

“Mommy!”

“What’s wrong? Something happened?”

“Will you and Daddy come home early today?”

“I’m not sure about that. Why?”

“Oh, it’s nothing. I’m just asking.”

“It’s a little busy lately, so I can’t tell for sure.”

“Okay, I got it. Talk to you later, bye!” Hansel then hung up the phone.

Lyla looked at her phone. She found it strange but was not overly bothered, she then went back to the design department.

Surprisingly, she really got off work early today. The share price was climbing and the company got a little break from the busy work, so Lyla and Mark went home together after work.

However, when they reached home and opened the door, they were both stunned at the entrance.

“I did not expect you to have such a good place here,” Justin said as he sized up the house.

“Of course. Daddy is good to us, he gave us everything!” Hansel looked at him.

“What’s wrong? Jealous? Your jealousy won’t do you any good, the house is under my mommy’s name, you can’t do anything to it.”

Hansel said like he was expressing dominance, which made Justin roll his eyes white at the boy.

“You little rascal, can you be less vicious for a minute? It’s just a house, I’m not that stingy! If you want, I can give you a few!”

“Hoho? How generous of you!”

“Hmph! Be careful of your strange tone, I’ll beat you up!”

“Violent much?” Despite saying so, Hansel sounded like he was having fun.

The grandfather and grandson duo were talking over the bar counter. Hansel was making a meal while Justin waited patiently.

The scene looked warm and harmonious.
