After a glance, Mark frowned. “Hansel’s department specially made this; no one knows how to use it other than him.”

“What should we do?”

“We’ll go back to Hansel right away, maybe he can find her,” Mark said.

Lyla nodded. Mark quickly turned the car around and sprinted back home. This time around, Lyla did not feel the speed in his driving, she felt it was too slow.

Her heart felt heavy and she could not describe it with words.

Hansel did not sense anything wrong from the short call, he was talking to Lingo about Hell’s Angel’s next step and the plans for the future.

It was until Lyla and Mark came back nervously, he noticed something went wrong.

“Daddy, Mommy, what’s wrong?”

Mark took a deep breath and said, “Use your GPS and locate Gretel.”

“What’s wrong with Gretel?”

“She said she’s going to the office to surprise your mommy but she didn’t show up and we can’t find her anywhere, she’s not answering her phone. Hurry up and locate her,” Mark said.

Hansel reacted with a serious look. Without further ado, he started to use the watch to locate Gretel.

It was then Lingo said, “Gretel left her watch with me yesterday.”

Everyone was silenced and speechless for a moment.

They did not know how to react or what to say.

Lingo realized how serious the situation was. “She said she wanted an upgrade and linked it to mine, so she gave it to me for the necessary upgrades.”

Her words cut off their last hope.

The atmosphere plunged into silence for a moment there, no one knew how to react.

Lyla tightened her lips and forced herself to calm down. She should not assume the worst case scenario just yet, maybe the girl was just lost or forgot about the timing.

However, even her own excuse failed to convince herself.

Lingo then said, “I’ll go to Piers and see whether they are together or not. If not, I’ll contact everyone in Hell’s Angel to find her.”

She then left in a hurry.

Hansel did not know what to say to console Lyla either. “Mommy, don’t worry, Gretel will be fine.”

Lyla forced a smile on her face. She wanted to believe it either but she could not control her mind from thinking about the worst.

It had been a day since Gretel went missing.

Lyla was up the whole night and she was certain that Gretel did not just go missing because she forgot about the time, something bad happened to her.

For some reason, Lily got the news and she called Lyla on the second day.

“Lyla, don’t worry. Gretel is a smart girl, she will definitely try her best to contact you,” Lily said. It was already too late to say that Gretel would be fine and since Lily was a straightforward person, she might as well speak her mind.

Lyla took a deep breath. “I know she will. Don’t worry, I’m fine.”

“Mhmm. Okay. Speaking of which, after you took the day off, Kathleen didn’t come into the office as well,” Lily said.

Lyla frowned. “She didn’t come into the office today?”

“Yeah. She left in a hurry yesterday and had not shown up until now. I’ve tried calling her but she’s not picking up. We have to cover for her…”

Kathleen left in a hurry yesterday and coincidentally Gretel went missing yesterday.

She could not think of anyone who could have contacted Kathleen other than Arden, so she went to him.

Ever since Arden was bailed out, he had been rejecting meetings. He locked himself in his home but Lyla managed to find out where he lived and got to him.

Arden looked the same but the warm and delicate face of his had lost its colors. This time, because of his mistake, his company had suffered a great loss and he was dismissed from his position of CEO.

When he saw Lyla, his eyes glittered with hope. “What is it?”

“I have something to ask you.”

“Yeah, it’s me. I saw a lot of missed calls from you, what’s wrong? You missed me?” Kathleen sounded empty and coquettish, as if she was a different person from before.

“Yeah!”

“It seemed like you do miss me.”

“Is Gretel with you?” Lyla skipped the chats and asked the question that troubled her.

“Gretel? Gretel? Oh, that stupid little girl? Yeah, she’s with me.” Kathleen chuckled.

Lyla was furious but she forced herself to calm down. She took a deep breath and said, “Kathleen, I’m the one you want, come at me! Leave my daughter alone! Why must you involve her!?”

“Hahaha, you are right, I am after you.”

“Where are you now? I’m coming over!” Lyla was anxious. She must at least find out whether Gretel was safe.

“Okay then, come but please come alone. Otherwise, your precious daughter will end up like my baby…”

Lyla felt chills down her spine. She clenched her fists and said, “I’ll come alone.”

“I’ll be waiting for you!” Kathleen then hung up the phone with a vicious chuckle.

Lyla’s hands were shaking when she put down the phone, she could not even drive properly but when she knew that Gretel was waiting for her, she forced herself to calm down.

She closed her eyes and took a deep breath. When she opened her eyes again, she started the car and drove off.

All kinds of thoughts appeared in her mind but she reminded herself to not think about the worse, she would find out the truth once she got to Kathleen.

Lyla never drove over the speed limit but she drove as fast as the car could. She might be even faster than Mark in her driving.

Soon, Lyla arrived at the location Kathleen told her; it was an abandoned building.

She looked up and noticed it was almost 20 stories tall.

Kathleen told her to meet at the rooftop.

Lyla strode up without a second thought.

She left her phone in the car and right after she got out, it rang. She missed it and headed all the way up to the rooftop.

Since it was an abandoned building, she had to climb every storey herself.

She exhausted more than half of her stamina to get up.

Kathleen stood on the rooftop casually, as if she was enjoying the view.

She knew Lyla had come up without even turning around.

“Finally.”

Even though she was exhausted, Lyla tried her best to concentrate and look around. She did not see Gretel anywhere.

“Where’s my daughter?!”
