Fortunately, Mark was not overly concerned and he simply nodded.

Even though Lyla felt guilty about it, she decided to tell Mark after the meeting with Felix.

When she walked out of the hotel, Hansel was already waiting for her at the entrance and there was a car prepared to take them out. The two of them glanced at each other before they got into the car.

“Where’s Lingo?” Lyla asked.

“She’s staying in the hotel.”

“She’s not coming with us?”

“I’m afraid that bringing her along will cause trouble. Mummy, Felix doesn’t know about my identity yet so…” Hansel looked at Lyla.

It was what Hansel was worried about.

Lyla nodded. “I understand.”

Hansel sighed a breath of relief.

Lyla looked at her son. He was only 7 years old, yet he was able to be cautious and have an extensive plan for everything, she really did not know what to say.

The car drove for almost an hour. After turning into countless alleys and streets, Lyla almost passed out from all the turns, the car stopped in front of a mansion that looked like a castle.

Lyla did not even know how the car came into the mansion, all she knew was they were already there when she realized it.

The driver got out and opened the door for Lyla and said in Italian, “Ma’am, please.”

Lyla got out of the car followed by Hansel.

Right after they came down from the car, someone came up to them and Lyla knew that man.

“Ms. Lowe! Mr. Hansel!” Shadow greeted and bowed in front of them.

“Shadow! Where’s Felix?” Lyla finally showed a smile.

“He’s inside. Ms. Lowe, please.” Shadow looked as cool and stiff as always.

Lyla nodded and went into the mansion.

Hansel looked around before he followed Lyla inside.

They took a quick tour around the castle-like mansion, it felt like they had entered another world.

It was grand on the outside and breathtaking on the inside, and the interior was much more glamorous than it looked.

Right after the quick tour, a tall man with a bewitching look appeared with several other men behind him, granting the man a distant image.

“My dear!”

“Felix!”

It had been a long time since they saw each other, neither of them could put their feelings into words.

Lyla missed Felix a lot, it felt like she had finally reunited with a long lost family member. It moved her and made her a little teary.

Felix smiled and opened his arms for a big and tight hug. Lyla did not push him away.

He whispered in her ears, “I missed you.”

Lyla was touched but she blamed him instead. “Then why didn’t you contact me?”

Felix did not let her go, he said softly, “I’m sorry.”

Hansel saw the two of them curled up together and it started to become an eyesore. He said, “So I’m like air to you guys?”

Felix finally noticed the little guy. He let go of Lyla and walked to Hansel, he wanted to hug the boy but Shadow stopped him.

“Boss.”

Felix looked at him but Shadow replied with a resolute gaze.

Hansel looked at them and saw Felix compromising in the end.

Felix simply pinched the boy’s cheeks and said with a smile, “Of course you’re not air. If you are air itself, it would be bizarre.”

Hansel happily smiled.

Actually, aside from the obvious facts, Felix was good to the mother and son but due to being at the wrong place at the wrong time, he could not do anything about it.

Felix looked around for Gretel but did not spot the little girl. “Where’s Baby Gretel? I got some presents that she’ll love.”

Lyla looked bitter again when Felix mentioned Gretel.

The slight smile on Hansel also disappeared simultaneously.

Felix had been in the business for a long time, of course he was able to notice the little changes on their faces. He frowned and asked, “What happened?”

“It’s a long story,” Hansel said.

Felix understood the complexity, he said, “Let’s talk inside.”

Lyla and Hansel nodded.

Felix spoke to his men in Italian and the men nodded. They stood guard on the spot while Felix brought the mother and son inside.

“What? Gretel has been kidnapped?” Felix widened his eyes in disbelief.

Hansel nodded. “Yeah, it has been a while and we have been searching for her ever since. Then, we found out that Gretel was transferred to Rome, so here we are.”

Felix reacted bitterly to the news but he was able to keep his calm. He asked, “Where did you get the news from?”

“Uhm…”

Hansel did not know what to say, he could not reveal his identity with the gang now and his daddy did not know about Felix’s existence.

It was then Lyla said, “It’s Gretel’s father.”

She looked rather pale when she said that.

“Mark Pattinson?” Felix asked.

Lyla looked a little surprised but did not ask why. It was not surprising that Felix knew about Mark, so she nodded. “Yeah.”

“So you came here with him?”

Lyla nodded as well.

Lyla nodded.

“It has been a while since we met, you two must stay for dinner.”

Lyla exchanged a quick glance with Hansel before Hansel nodded. “Okay.”

Felix smiled. He looked at Shadow and said with a heavy tone, “Start preparing.”

The speed of him changing his mood was as quick as flipping a page in a book.

Hansel felt sorry for Shadow but Shadow did not feel anything, he left to carry out the order.

Then, they left the mansion and headed to the dining hall.

The so-called dining hall was twice as big as a normal house in Rome and it was equipped with a kitchen, a dining table and a long couch.

They sat on the couch for a further discussion while waiting for dinner.

Lyla told Felix about how Gretel went missing and he reacted bitterly. “I am sorry, it was my fault for not contacting you earlier. If I had gotten in touch with you earlier, this might not have happened.”

Lyla frowned. Felix’s apology overwhelmed her. “This isn’t your fault.”

“If I didn’t let you go back, this wouldn’t have happened.”

“Felix…”

“I know what you want to say and I understand. The most important thing now is to locate Gretel.”

Lyla nodded without saying anything else since Felix understood the situation.

Half an hour later, Shadow came over. “Boss, dinner is served.”

Felix nodded and looked at Lyla and Hansel. “Let’s go.”

They got up and walked to the dining table.

Lyla got a little nervous beside Felix and accidentally bumped into his arm.

Felix held his arm tightly and groaned in pain.

Shadow went up to him with a concerned look. “Boss…”

Lyla asked out of concern, “What’s wrong?”

“Boss was attacked and almost died. He was out cold for more than half a month before he came back from hell. He’s still recovering from his injuries...”

“Shadow!” Felix bellowed and stopped him before he could finish.

Shadow kept quiet but he looked like he had a lot more to reveal.

Even if Shadow did not finish his sentence, Lyla knew what happened. She finally knew why Felix did not contact her for so long, it was because of the attack.

Lyla felt responsible for his injuries. “Why didn’t you tell me about this? This is serious.”

Felix put on a forced smile and said, “I couldn’t even open my eyes, how would I have told you?”

The words made Lyla teary.
