Back in the room, Lyla changed out of her wet clothes. Sitting in bed with a blanket over her, her hair was still damp.

Lisa poured her a glass of water. “Ms. Lowe, you really scared me earlier.”

Lyla sat in bed with vacant eyes. She was completely silent, as if buried in her own world.

Lisa brought the water forward. “Mr. Smith was scared to death just now. I can tell that he’s really nervous and frightened.”

Speaking of this, Lyla finally had a reaction. Her luscious lashes fluttered.

She lifted her eyes. “Didn’t he just have surgery? Why is he able to go into the water?” Lyla enquired.

Lisa clammed up at the remark. Aware of the lie she told Lyla, there was nothing more to be said.

It was not Lyla’s intention to lash out at Lisa. However, it was their fault for playing her for a fool.

She pursed her lips. “Get out.” Lyla spoke.

Lisa merely gazed at her without the guts to leave her post, prompting Lyla to speak once again.“Don’t worry, I won’t do anything rash because I need to leave here alive,” She said.

She wanted to see Mark, Gretel and Hansel.

She missed them so much.

Hearing this, Lisa could relax. She bobbed her head and went out the room.

Lyla sat in bed, lost in her thoughts while looking outside the window. She knew that Felix would come.

He must come!

It took a while before there was movement at the door. With the door pushed open, in walked Felix.

He still did not have a change of clothes. As a matter of fact, he was drenched from head to toe.

Felix paused at the sight of Lyla but still went in anyway.

Similarly, Lyla could sense him entering the room but she did not turn over.

“How are you feeling? Are you feeling better?” Felix asked with concern.

Lyla slowly turned back to face him. “What about you?”

With his head hung low, Felix knew where the conversation was going.

He pursed his lips. “I guess you know.”

“I haven’t known it for long, just from the food.” Her lips curled into a sarcastic smile.

It never occurred to her that Felix would actually drug her food to keep her by his side.

“I’m sorry,” Felix uttered with guilt.

“That’s not what I want to hear,” Lyla coldly blurted.

Felix held his tongue.

Lyla stared straight at him. She may crack her head open but it would never have crossed her mind that Felix would do such a thing.

This was all a ploy.

“I want to know, was the shot in Alpine City part of your plan?” Lyla looked him in the eye and asked. Deep down, she still held a glimmer of hope for him.

Just then, Felix picked up his gaze to meet hers. His profound eyes bore a hint of an almost undetectable hurt. “What do you think?”

Lyla shook her head. “I don’t know.”

With what she had always believed in and trusted becoming like this, she lost all sense of judgement.

Felix’s lips perked up into a pale and weak smile. “You can take it however you want it to be.”

There was really no point to engage in a feeble conversation that was more unfamiliar than between strangers.

She went straight to the point. “When do you plan on letting me go?” Lyla glanced at him and probed.

Felix clenched his fist without speaking. This question was expected. He had come up with a lot of scenarios in his head but they were unlike the actual events today.

Faced with Felix’s silence, Lyla proceeded the conversation. “Are you planning to keep me captive?”

“If that’s what it takes to keep you by my side, then I would rather you hate me,” He snapped back in hushed tones before turning to leave. He had not figured out how to face her yet.

“Felix Smith!” Lyla cried out to him, “Do you really want me to resent you?”

With his back towards her, Felix was shaking. His hands on each side balled up tight.

“If hatred is able to keep you with me, then just hate me.” Ending the topic there, he took off.

Lyla sat in bed, completely dumbstruck. It never occurred to her that things between her and Felix would come to this.

She never thought they would have such a deep conversation together either.

Was it a mistake for her to follow him here?

Even if it was a mistake, there was no turning back.

Lyla turned her gaze back to outside the window. It was as though she could see another place through the boundless sea...

......

“Boss, Ms. Lowe is still refusing to eat anything,” Shadow reported.

Hearing this, Felix clenched his fist.

This was the third day.

She was not eating or drinking to punish and pressure him.

“Force it down her throat if she won’t eat.”

“But...”

“Just follow my orders,” Felix yelled.

Shadow was not in the position to argue. He nodded and withdrew from the room.

After he was gone, Felix stood behind a window. The grimace in his face was apparent.

He must persist no matter what. It was not easy to come this far.

Felix was willing to accept that fact even if she despised him, just as long as she was by his side...

Lyla, don’t blame me.

…...

Lyla lay in bed. Although she was wide awake, she looked horrible.

“Yes, I don’t or should I say that you don’t get yourself?” Lyla replied with a question.

Felix gazed at her with blaring eyes. “No-no, it’s not that.” He shouted, his hands were trembling.

Lyla looked back with tears in her eyes. “Felix, I really hope to see the former you...”

Her words struck a chord in Felix. He turned to her. His red eyes carried a hint of hesitance.

“As long as you stay with me, I will forever be the me of the past,” Felix replied.

Lyla shook her head. “I’m sorry...”

These words declared her answer.

“In that case, let’s make it hard for each other then.”

“Felix...”

“Are you going to eat or not?” Felix questioned her.

Lyla was without a word as she merely stared at him. She was gambling on how far she could push the envelope with Felix.

He was met with her silence.

Felix turned to Lisa. “Bring me some water.”

Bobbing her head, Lisa brought water over.

Felix faced Lyla. “Drink.”

Lyla remained quiet and simply stared at him.

Having lost his patience, Felix picked up the glass of water and drank it himself. He then held Lyla down and aimed for her lips.

This act caught everyone by surprise. Nevertheless, no one dared to say anything as they watched the scene unfolded.

It never occurred to Lyla that Felix would do something like this. She pushed and smacked him but that did not stop Felix from driving water down her throat through her lips.

It was unknown how long they fought. Felix furrowed his brows and let loose on her.

Nevertheless, her lips were already scarlet in color.

Lyla glared at him with resentful eyes.

Felix took no notice. “Either you eat and get better to talk terms with me or I feed you my way. Your choice.”

Overwhelmed with resentment, Lyla grabbed a pillow and threw at him. “I hate you.”

“Hatred is better than no feelings,” With a pale look on his face, Felix said.

Lyla looked at him without saying a word.

She clearly had an answer.

Felix glanced at her. “I’ll come see you tomorrow.” He got up and left.

Sitting in bed, Lyla gazed at his receding figure. Her eyes welled up and tears began to flow.

Lisa was lost for words after seeing the fuss that was kicked up. Standing in a corner, she did not know what to do.

However, obviously, Felix’s method worked.
