Lyla grumbled in her heart.

Whenever she saw him, she felt like she was seeing her own baby boy, Hansel.

Despite both of them looking alike, Hansel was still young, thus, there was still a child-like air about him. Sometimes, Lyla wondered if Hansel would be as alluring as him when he grew up.

Thinking of that, Lyla felt very depressed!

The moment Mark Pattinson walked in, his gaze fell on Lyla, and he sized her up.

His gaze unnerved Lyla, and she felt puzzled immediately after.

“Mr. Pattinson!”

Lyla and Lily greeted him politely.

“What are you both discussing?” Mark Pattinson asked with his deep voice.

At that moment, Lily answered, “We’re planning to go for a meal and sing karaoke tonight to celebrate Lyla joining the M.K. Design Department!”

Mark Pattinson raised his eyebrows lackadaisically and pursed his lips. He remained silent, and his gaze was unreadable.

Lily shifted her gaze and glanced at Mark Pattinson. “Mr. Pattinson, as a newcomer, Lyla has tackled two cases successfully. Shouldn’t there be additional rewards for her?”

Lyla was not looking forward to him giving her any rewards, though.

She only prayed that she could keep a distance from him. She was already thankful as long as he did not cause her any trouble.

Mark Pattinson raised his eyebrows. “This is an acknowledgment of her abilities. Moreover, she seemed happy while we were negotiating the case. Am I right, Ms. Lowe?” He gave Lyla a sharp and cold look.

Lyla felt the cold stare from Mark Pattinson. She could even feel the air turning colder. Nonetheless, she did not quite understand what he actually meant.

She kept smiling and tried to look humble as if she had learned something. “You’re right, Mr. Pattinson!”

Despite saying so, she was cursing him down in the deepest core of her heart! ‘Isn’t that right, my foot!’

The moment Mark Pattinson noticed her fake smile, he seethed.

Mr. Pattinson really wanted to treat them to a meal?

Lyla was startled too. Someone, please tell her what exactly was in Mark Pattinson’s mind right now!

“That’s brilliant, Mr. Pattinson!”

“Mr. Pattinson, you’re such a good boss.”

“You’re amazing, Mr. Pattinson.”

The group instantly cheered, and all of them praised him endlessly.

Mark Pattinson did not show much emotion. His deep, dark eyes were only fixed on Lyla.

Lyla did not feel particularly thrilled about the idea. While she watched everyone else, she stood there calmly and smiled faintly.

She did not want to have much contact with Mark Pattinson. Instead, she wanted to stay far away from him. The further he was from her, the better. She was afraid that Mark Pattinson might find out about Hansel’s existence someday. Although she knew that day might come sooner or later, she hoped that it would not be so soon.
