Hansel and Gretel could not fall asleep at this hour, so they waited upstairs. When Lyla went upstairs, the two of them immediately gave her a bright smile.

That smile made Lyla a little worried.

“Mummy, welcome home,” Gretel said with a sweet smile.

“I’m back!” Lyla nodded and walked in while Gretel quickly ran over to take her bag and hung it on the hanger. She was being really attentive.

Lyla changed into her slippers and walked in.

“Mummy, are you tired?” Gretel walked over attentively and helped Lyla massage her back.

“I’m fine!”

Gretel brought out a bowl of soup. “Mummy, have a drink!”

If they were behaving in such a way, they had to be up to something.

Lyla took over the soup and said, “Okay, if both of you have anything to tell me, just say it!"

Gretel was a straightforward girl. Her eyes lit up, and she said, "Is daddy the one who sent you back?"

She knew it, all they cared about were these stupid things!

Lyla nodded and did not want to hide it either. So she gave them an affirming grunt. Then she thought that something might be wrong and gazed at them. "How do you know?"

Gretel smiled happily. "Mummy, it is difficult for people to not notice such a good car parked downstairs. Moreover, it was parked there for a long time. Two of you have been in that car for quite a while, and this might easily cause misunderstandings in others..." Gretel's expression showed that she already knew what happened between Lyla and Mark Pattinson.

Lyla was just about to say something, but Hansel opened his mouth first. "Have you decided to reform and get him to fall in love with you in one fell swoop?"

"Son, that’s shameful. Do you want your mommy to be a mistress?" Lyla asked back.

"No, no, no!" Hansel raised his index finger and pointed at her. "Mommy, Gretel has just said, if we’re talking about mistresses, that woman is the one who is the mistress, right? Don't forget, you met Daddy first. Both of us are your great masterpieces. How could you be a mistress? I am living proof!" Hansel said narcissistically.

His behavior was just like Mark Pattinson.

She thought for a while and said, "I'm tired enough with just the both of you, I don't need another one!"

"Mummy, you have to think like this. Since Daddy has money and power, if he joins our house, we won't have to worry about our daily necessities. Plus, if you manage to make him love you, you can ask him to come back to cook for us and mop the floor. This will save me the trouble!" Hansel said.

Lyla’s lips twitched.

‘Ask Mark Pattinson to cook and mop the floor?

‘How is that possible?’

Lyla could not even imagine Mark Pattinson holding a kitchen knife. That would be hilarious!

She had her thoughts return to the present. Lyla looked at him. “I'm afraid you will be disappointed!”

“Why?”

“Because he is getting engaged soon!" Lyla said lightly.

“With that mayor's daughter?” Hansel asked, but he was not angry at all.

Lyla nodded. “Yes!”

Lyla was very straightforward when it came to educating her children, because it was better if she told them certain things directly. Even though the children were young, they knew everything!

Hansel thought about it seriously and looked at her. “Mommy, aren't you angry?”

“Why should I be angry?”

“Don't you feel even the slightest bit angry?” Hansel asked curiously. If she were just a little bit angry...

Lyla thought for a moment, and she still shook her head. “No!”

She just felt a little uncomfortable with the thought.

Hansel instantly had his expression fall and shook his head helplessly. “Ah, looks like daddy is truly a failure!”

Lyla did not say anything. She laid down on the sofa and ordered her daughter around without feeling any guilt whatsoever, “One more bowl of soup!”

Gretel, who was sitting by her side, immediately took over the bowl and went to the kitchen to refill soup for her mother.

Hansel gazed at Lyla, thought about it, and said, “Mommy, let's make a bet!”

Lyla raised her eyebrows lazily and twirled her hair, giving off an incredibly charming air. “What's the bet?”

“I bet Daddy won't marry that woman!” Hansel uttered every word with full confidence.

Lyla frowned and glanced lightly on him. “Baby, Mommy knows you want Daddy, but the marriage between the Pattinson family and the Turner family is already a solid fact!”

Hansel smiled confidently. “Anyway, I believe that daddy will never be engaged to that woman!”

Anyway, he absolutely believed that his father's taste would not be that bad. If Daddy were really engaged to that woman, he would start doubting his own genes.

Lyla shook her head helplessly, not knowing what to say. After taking the soup from Gretel and drinking it, she got up. “Okay, you can go on and make the bet. Don’t blame me for not warning you when you end up with a stepmother. Okay, I’m going to take a shower!”

“Okay, good night, Mummy!”

“You guys go to bed early too!”

“Okay!” Although Hansel agreed to it, there was a hint of cunning in his eyes.

At night, Mark Pattinson was the last to show up at Golden City Hotel. When he arrived, both the Turner and the Pattinson families were already seated. Kathleen Turner was among them.

When she saw Mark Pattinson, her face practically started shining. “Mark, you’re finally here!” Kathleen Turner greeted him with a smile.

Mark Pattinson glanced at her indifferently. Without saying anything, he walked over and looked at Justin Pattinson. “Dad!”

“Hey!” Justin Pattinson responded emotionlessly. He had always behaved this way towards Mark Pattinson.

She would always laugh no matter what the occasion was. She was good at disguising her emotions by putting up a smile on her face.

Mark Pattinson gazed at her, the emotions in his eyes were hard to read because the light in his eyes flickered, causing no one to be able to read him.

Kathleen Turner was able to enjoy her dinner. She would enjoy eating anything because she was in a good mood.

Everyone finished eating and left.

At the Pattinson's house door, Kathleen Turner held Mark Pattinson’s hand with a shy look on her face.

“Mark, thank you. I will love you, and I will be a good wife!” Kathleen Turner said shyly.

No matter how wayward or wilful a woman could be, she would look like a bunny in front of her beloved man.

But that woman was an exception.

For some reason, her face kept flashing in Mark Pattinson's mind, either intentionally or unintentionally.

That woman had even provoked her today!

‘If you want something, you must exchange it for something else!’

She was arrogant and aggressive enough, but not ostentatious!

Mark Pattinson smiled, and it was a rarely seen smile on him.

Kathleen Turner did not know why he was smiling. She rarely saw Mark Pattinson smile. Such smiles were rare to her.

Kathleen Turner thought he was in a good mood because of their engagement. So, she hugged Mark Pattinson, lowered her head, bit her lip, and said softly in his ear, "Mark, I really miss you... we haven't been together for a long time..."

Of course, Mark Pattinson understood what she was suggesting!

But why was he not interested at all?

Mark Pattinson looked at her with a deep gaze. “I have some things to do tonight. Be good and go back home. Rest well!”

Kathleen Turner was taken aback.

Every time she gave a hint like this, Mark Pattinson would get worked up and bring her into the room to make love to her, but this time...

He turned her down?

Kathleen Turner could not believe it. When she looked at him, she could not find anything unusual. In the end, she could only remind herself that she was overthinking things.

Kathleen Turner smiled. “Well then, don't tire yourself out. Remember to take a good rest!”

"Alright!" Mark Pattinson nodded.

Then Kathleen Turner reluctantly got into the car and drove away.

Meanwhile, Mark Pattinson stood still at the same spot. The smile on his lips gradually turned sinister...
