Chapter 29 

Nydia looked down and froze. 

Norman’s tiny hands clutched the hem of her shirt as his big watery eyes stared at her. They were filled with fear and on the verge of spilling tears. 

Her heart melted instantly. She couldn’t resist gently ruffling Norman’s hair. “I need to go back to work. You can come visit if you miss me.” 

Norman lowered his head, and his tears dripped like raindrops. 

Nydia’s heart ached as she watched him cry. For a moment, she completely forgot Mick’s unreasonable words from earlier. 

She crouched down and patiently comforted him, “You’re gonna have to go to school, okay? If miss me, you can call me anytime. I’ll pick you up after school, and we can hang out for lunch. How does that sound?”

As expected, Norman stopped crying. 

Nydia carefully wiped his tears away. “When the weekend comes, I’ll talk to Mr. Houle and ask. if we can all visit the amusement park. 

Norman’s eyes brightened, and he eagerly held out his pinky. 

Nydia extended hers and hooked it with his. “Pinky promise!” 

Norman started spinning in happy circles. 

Nydia quickly gathered her stuff, while Eddie arranged for a car to send her back. 

After the car drove off, Norman turned around with a serious face. He uttered in a firm tone, Uncle Eddie, I want to go to school.” 

A flash of surprise crossed Eddie’s usually cold–looking face. 

“I’m serious. I want to go to school,” Norman repeated. 

Eddie immediately called for Wayne to make the necessary arrangements for enrolment before going to his study. 

One particular book was a decoy. Moving it triggered the entrance to a hidden chamber. 

The secret chamber was small. At its center was a table with a nameless memorial tablet placed. on top. But he got on his knees and prayed in silence for a long time before leaving the room. 

Once Nydia arrived at the hospital, she threw herself into work. She checked on her patients, recorded their conditions, and participated in consultations with her colleagues to determine

if treatment plans needed adjustments. 

She was busy throughout the entire day, but when she returned to her quiet apartment after work, an inexplicable sense of unease settled in her chest. 

She ended up going into the kitchen. 

Mona arrived fashionably late at the hospital. 

With just a few words, she managed to stop Ted from crying. Then, the table in the ward was piled high with junk food.
