Chapter 35
Nydia was so immersed in her training that she didn’t notice it was 8:00 pm.
“Thanks for your explanation, Nelson. Let me treat you to dinner.” Both of them were
famished after a long day.
Nelson removed his gloves and nodded. “Sure, wouldn’t say no. I know a place that serves
great pizza.”
Nydia joked, “It’s my first time treating you to meal, so I should prepare a great feast, right?
Nelson chuckled. His voice was gentle as he said, “Can we split it into installments? I heard great feasts serve over a hundred dishes. Shall we have one dish per day?”
She clutched her pocket dramatically and pretended to be in pain. “I just wanted to treat you to dinner, but you’re trying to make me bankrupt.”
“How about a dish per day?” he suggested.
“You must’ve been a lion in your past life. You have such a great appetite.”

Her heart clenched, and fear shot through her like an electric current. Every cell in her body trembled. Her mind went blank and was overtaken by sheer terror.
“Help…” She wanted to struggle, but the grip felt like an iron clamp.
Images
of violent robberies and murders from her time abroad flashed through her mind. Her breathing quickened, and her heart pounded in her ears like a drumbeat. Cold sweat formed on her back.
“It’s me!” The familiar voice pulled Nydia out of hell and back to reality.
“Mick? Let me go!”
“Huh. I’m your husband, and you’re telling me to let you go so you can continue your sweet moment with another man?”
“Let go!”
“Answer me. What’s your relationship with him?”
Nydia held in the pain and explained, “He’s my colleague. Also, we’re getting a divorce. Keep
