Chapter 45 

To their surprise, Nydia stopped right in front of Homer. 

Then, she warned him in a slightly anxious voice, “Mr. Barton Senior, I suspect a foreign object in the blood vessel of your chest. You need to get surgery immediately.” 

She’d attended Homer’s birthday party years ago and had disguised as a server. 

Since Mick refused to reveal her identity, that was the only thing she could do to stay close to Ted and take care of him. 

She’d felt something off about Homer but hadn’t dwelled on it. Now after putting the pieces together, she realized it was a life–threatening matter that couldn’t wait. 

Homer frowned. He had felt something off about his body but decided it was due to his aging body and age–related illnesses. The idea of a foreign object in his blood vessels sounded. absurd. 

“You left the contest platform without permission. Your team is hereby disqualified,” he announced. Though he was aged, his voice carried commanding respect. 

“If you don’t trust me, Mr. Barton Senior, please get checked. This isn’t something that can wait!” Nydia said urgently. 

Buck got up from the audience. “Dr. Vega, you’ve gone too far!” He’d come to kill time, and he hadn’t expected to encounter such an incident. 

He could understand Nydia resorting to tricks to return to Mick’s side but using Homer as a pawn was intolerable. 

“You shouldn’t use an elderly man to achieve your goals!” he snapped, suppressing his anger out of respect for Mick. Otherwise, he would’ve had Nydia dragged out long ago. 

Nelson hurried over and gently grabbed Nydia’s arm. “Nydia, calm down. Let’s step aside and get some rest.” 

The results of their competition would be voided by now, but he didn’t blame her. He’d decided to take responsibility when they returned to the hospital- 

Meanwhile, Mona sneered and added fuel to the fire. “Nydia, are you taking this approach. because you think you can’t win? 

“But you’re just too bold. How dare you challenge Mr. Barton Senior’s authority! Do you think he’d stoop to favoritism for you?” 

The audience started whispering, and their expressions filled with disdain. 

Mick’s face remained cold as he said nothing. Nydia would undoubtedly lose her job after today, and she’d have no choice but to stay home and become a full–time housewife. 

Ted noticed people around them criticizing Nydia and felt embarrassed. He turned his face away and pretended not to know her. 

“I’m not trying to attract attention. Buck, consider it preventative action and get Mr. Barton Senior to a check–up immediately!” Nydia warned. 

Buck’s face darkened with anger. “I’ve given you a way out for respect, but if you refuse to stop, I’ll have no choice but to go harsh on you!”

With a wave of his hand, several bodyguards rushed over and surrounded Nydia. Then, he 

manded, “Drag her out and find out who’s behind this slander against Mr. Barton Senior!” 

The audience gasped in realization. 

“So she claimed Mr. Barton Senior was sick to cause a panic? He’s leading several crucial research projects, after all!”
