Chapter 52 

The kitchen was already small to begin with. After he stepped inside, the space felt even more cramped. Every corner was filled with the pleasant woody fragrance emanating from him. 

“Uhm… There’s no need for that. I can handle it myself.” For some reason, Nydia felt a little. 

flustered. 

Eddie took the vegetables from her and offered,‘ll wash them.” His tone was gentle, completely unlike the infamous cold–blooded Mr. Houle the rumors made him to be. 

Before she realized it, the bowl of vegetables was no longer in her hands. 

The man turned around and turned on the faucet to wash the vegetables. His fingers rubbed the leaves gently, applying just the right force. It was surprisingly pleasant to watch. 

‘Am I doing it wrong?” Eddie glanced at her when he noticed her staring. 

“Not bad. It just felt like this is your first time doing this,” she said. 

“Are you looking down on first–timers now?” he retorted. 

She was scared speechless. Would she even dare to? It was just a casual remark! 

“Well, I just think it’s impressive how you manage raising a child on your own,” she added. 

He didn’t need to cook or learn any recipes. Doing a comparison like that really frustrated her. 

“That’s why my relationship with Norman isn’t that great,” he explained, then asked sincerely, “How do you always manage to get Norman to like you?” 

Nydia 

Nydia froze for a moment. 

Truth be told, she didn’t think that Norman disliked Eddie. On the contrary, she felt the two 

shared a pretty good dynamic. 

“There are many ways to show affection. Why are you so sure that Norman dislikes you? Besides…” 

She took the washed vegetables from him and started cutting them. The faint sounds of the knife slicing through vegetables only provided a contrast that made her sound even gentler. 

“You should talk to Norman about your issues instead of asking me,” she advised. 

Eddie frowned. “Would he understand?” But soon, his expression turned gloomy. “It doesn’t matter. Whether he likes me or not isn’t important as long as he grows up fine.‘ 

Nydia suddenly put down the knife and said, “Look down for a moment. 

Eddie was confused, but he obliged and lowered his gaze.

He grew even more puzzled. 

She pointed to the puddle of water in the bowl he used for washing vegetables, which reflected 

the man’s handsome features, and said, “Don’t you think you look really aggrieved right now?

Eddie immediately avoided the sink. How could he possibly look aggrieved? 

Then, he promptly walked out of the kitchen. 

Outside, Norman was playing with Lego. When he saw Eddie approaching, he immediately pouted. 

“Uncle Eddie, you’re a coward who ran away! Shame on you! You can’t cook!” 

Eddie fell silent briefly, then asked, “Are you asking to be punished?”
